Leeper, Curtis and Frederick Memorial Scholarship

Eileen Bibas ’93, who passed away in 2014, left funds in her will to establish an endowment in memory of her brothers, Curtis and Frederick Leeper. This endowment will provide a scholarship to students with financial need in the Anisfield School of Business.

2023 Recipient

Ryan Kim

Ryan Kim of Mahwah, N.J. is a Management major with a minor in Human Resources and a 3.7 GPA.

Going into his second year at Ramapo, Ryan intends on joining an honors program as well as clubs that are affiliated with volunteering and helping others. Throughout Ryan’s academic and professional history, he has always been focused on helping others and making sure that anyone can come to him for help.

Ryan actively works at Old Navy full-time as a shift leader. He is held responsible for onboarding, recruiting, training, and development processes. Additionally, Ryan has experience in Merchandising departments and completing store operational procedures in any aspect. He has learned many skills in relation to communication, effective leadership, mentorship, and the development of individuals in the workplace.


2022 Recipients

Steven Fiumefreddo

Steven Fiumefreddo of Oakland, N.J. is an Accounting Major with a Minor in Marketing.  He has a 3.9 GPA. Steven is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma Student Athlete Honor Society, Ramapo College Dean’s List, USTFCCCA All-Academic Fall 2019 and Spring 2021.   

At Ramapo, Steven has been active in several organizations and activities, including the men’s Cross Country/Track & Field team and Student Athlete Advisory Committee.  Steven has helped organize fundraisers including soles for souls and monthly meetings with representatives of all athletic teams.

Steven has also been involved in off –campus activities and organizations, including two. Accounting internships with Eisner Amper and Withum, and currently works at JD’s Deli and Grille. Steven’s internship experience included hands-on work with both audit and tax engagements. 


Fatima Bartel

Fatima Bartel of Union, N.J. is a Business Administration-Management major with a Human Resource Management minor. She is a senior with a 4.0 GPA.

At Ramapo, Fatima has been active in the Women’s Center, the College Progressive’s Club, and recently the ASB Dean’s Student Council. She works with ASB staff and other dedicated ASB students to improve the overall student learning experience. Fatima is also a part of the honor society Beta Gamma Sigma.

She has interned at two companies, start-up company Super Purposes LLC and data analytics firm USEReady.

2020 Recipients

Rachel Doherty

Rachel Doherty of Washington Township, N.J. is an Accounting major with a 3.9 GPA and continuous Dean’s List status. Rachel is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta, and has served as the photographer for Love Your Melon. Rachel also works in the Office of Specialized Services, where she is a year-round student aide. She plans to continue her education at Ramapo by earning her Masters of Accounting Degree as part of the 4+1 MSAC program.

Amanda Parisi

“I am very passionate about hard work and will never give up, no matter what,” says Amanda Parisi, a Business Management major from Fair Lawn, N.J. She has a 3.8 GPA and is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.

For Earth Day, Amanda participated in Ramapo’s campus-cleanup, and off-campus, she volunteers with Restore Native Plants to sustain and protect native plants and animals.

Amanda was promoted to a manager of Rita’s Italian Ice in Glen Rock, N.J. She plans to be a successful businesswoman and hopes to one day work in New York City.

Jelena Melnichenko

“Since an early age, I had a passion for mathematics and enjoyed working with numbers. Now, I have the great opportunity of turning my passion into my profession which I will enjoy throughout my life,” says Accounting major Jelena Melnichenko of Garfield, N.J.

She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and Judith K. Winn School of Honors. Jelena is also a student member of NJCPA (New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants). She has a 3.98 GPA.

She works full-time as an administrative assistant in the accounting field. Jelena has two children. She has volunteered at Center for Food Action.

Jelena plans to complete her degree in accounting and become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).


2018 Recipient

Thanuri Udumulla Arachchilage

Thanuri Udumulla Arachchilage of Sri Lanka is a Business Administration major with a concentration in management. She has a GPA of 3.75 and has been on the Dean’s list for two consecutive semesters.

At Ramapo, Thanuri has been active in several organizations and activities, including the International Student Organization and Accounting Club. She works on campus as a student intern to the Vice President of Administration and Finance. She is also a peer facilitator and a member of the Student Disciplinary Review Board.

She plans to go to law school after graduating from Ramapo and pursue a PhD in either Business or Law.


2017 Recipient

Johanna Avila Perez

Johanna Avila Perez of Paterson, NJ is an Accounting major. She has a 3.2 GPA. During her first year was selected to be inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society for her academic achievements.

At Ramapo, Johanna has been active in several activities, including Humans of Ramapo College of New Jersey (HORCNJ) and Relay for Life. Along with friends, Johanna started HORCNJ, and she now holds the club’s treasurer position.

Johanna has also been involved in off –campus activities and organizations, including House on a Hill and Durga Tree International. Durga Tree has a shelter for women rescued from human trafficking and along with others has held activities to raise funds for these survivors.
