Rodriguez, Judith and Francis International Business Scholarship

Judith and Frank Rodriguez were members of the Friends of Ramapo for many years. Their strong involvement in civic and community service was well-acknowledged by several organizations, and their dedication to the College played an important role in the establishment of  several endowed scholarships, including the Judith and Frank Rodriguez International Business Scholarship.

Mrs. Rodriguez, a registered pharmacist, and Mr. Rodriguez, whose career included management and consulting positions, resided in Midland Park, N.J. Mr. Rodriguez passed away in March of 2018 while Mrs. Rodriguez died in 2020.

The intent of the Judith and Francis Rodriguez International Business Scholarship is to recognize outstanding upperclassmen who are majoring in International Business and who are interested in international trade.

  • Students with a major in International Business and an interest in International Trade
  • Junior or Senior
  • Grade point average of 3.50 or higher

2021 Recipient

Olivia Valatkavage

Olivia Valatkavage of Parsippany, N.J. is an International Business major with an Economics minor. She has a 3.9 GPA, is on the Dean’s List, and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society.

Olivia participated in Ramapo’s Sophomores Advancing in Leadership program. Within her sorority, Tri Sigma, she has served as CPH Delegate, Vice President of Operations, and Fundraising Chairperson. Off-campus, she has been involved with March of Dimes, Relay for Life, and interned for the New Jersey Small Business Development Center

Upon graduation, Olivia would like to pursue a career in human resource management. She also plans to travel to several countries around the world, including Spain, Germany, and England.



2011 Recipient

Leidy Duque

Leidy Duque of Hackensack, NJ is an International Business major. A native of Colombia, Leidy is excited about the possibility that the United States will open a free trade agreement with South America. “My objective is to own a business or be part of one that will facilitate international free trade between the United States and South America.” She is confident that her college education, South American roots and ability to speak and write both English and Spanish will provide her with an advantage. Leidy, who has a 3.71 grade point average, is grateful to her family in Colombia for their love and support.



2010 Recipient

Tsanko Nistorov

Tsanko Nistorov, from Bulgaria, is majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. In high school Tsanko won essay contests and tennis competitions. He was a member of Bulgaria’s Junior Achievement program and a volunteer for the Red Cross. He plans to return to Bulgaria and work in the banking system there. “I like developing new solutions to provocative problems,” he says. “Every new idea is a stone in the pyramid of civilization.
