Anisfield School of Business Scholarship

Richard and Millicent Anisfield have been long-standing supporters of higher education and well-respected leaders and philanthropists in New Jersey. Mr. Anisfield was born in Paterson and graduated from Eastside High School.  He attended New York University before enlisting in the Army Air Corps, flying missions over Germany in World War II as a B-24 bomber pilot.

In 1956 Mr. Anisfield, a management consultant, purchased Kurt Versen Company, a national firm that designs, manufactures and sells high-end, commercial lighting fixtures.  Mr. Anisfield went on to build a successful business as CEO and president of the company.  An avid golfer, Mr. Anisfield retired from Kurt Versen in 2005.

In 2006 and 2008, the Anisfields made the largest gift in the College’s history to strengthen the business program.  Mr. Anisfield said, “In making this gift, my interest is in creating something lasting and something that is important for our society.”  He went on to say, “The best thing I can do is support education. I want to contribute to the education of the most promising students and those who might not otherwise find college accessible.”  At the 2008 Ramapo College Commencement, Mr. and Mrs. Anisfield were awarded honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees.  Mr. Anisfield was an honorary member of Delta Mu Delta and Beta Gamma Sigma, the national honor societies for business administration.  Until his death in 2011, Mr. Anisfield met frequently with Ramapo College administrators and students.  Mrs. Anisfield passed away in 2017.

The intent of the Anisfield School of Business Scholarship is to attract students of high academic merit and financial need to a degree program offered in the Anisfield School. The award is administered by the Dean and the faculty of the Anisfield School of Business.

2024 Recipients

Rebecca Rodriguez

Rebecca Rodriguez of Tinton Falls, N.J. is a first-year History major. She had a highschool GPA of 4.6, and is a part of Ramapo College’s Honors Program.

At Ramapo, Rebecca has been part of several organizations, including volunteering at the Women’s Center and participating in the Gen Z Debate with UA.

Before coming to Ramapo, Rebecca was president of her high school’s debate and writing club, and worked at an after school program in her hometown.

Rebecca is the first woman in her family to go to college, and has plans to pursue a career in law. She takes pride in her roots and puts education first in all elements of her life.

Lily Stearns

Lily Stearns of Paramus, N.J. is a double major in International Business and Spanish Language Studies with a 3.9 GPA. She has also been a Dean’s List recipient during her time at Ramapo.

At Ramapo, she has been involved in several organizations such as Women in Business and the College Honors Program.

Lily is also active in off-campus activities such as tutoring and jobs including taking orders at a restaurant and walking dogs.

After graduation, Lily aspires to work in marketing for a global corporation after graduation.

Juan Uribe

“I know that being here at Ramapo my dreams will be reached with the help I get on the field and in class. The school pushes me to become better and get a better understanding of the world,” says Juan Uribe of Paterson, N.J. Juan is a defender on the men’s soccer team, and hopes to put his degree to use one day by owning his own business.


Joshua Rahat

Joshua Rahat of Norwood, N.J. is a Finance major. He has a 3.8 GPA and has participated in numerous activities and clubs on and off campus. At Ramapo he is in the Commuter Club and off campus holds a job promoting and tracking funds for a disk jockey company. “Earning a degree from Ramapo College of New Jersey will equip me with the necessary skills to be accepted to a reputable position within the finance and business sector.”

Ava Dolcemascolo

Ava Dolcemascolo of Ramsey, N.J. is a Marketing major. At Ramapo, Ava is part of the Financial Group and the Commuter Group. Ava has also been involved in off-campus activities and organizations, including being a Licensed Real Estate Agent at Lighthouse Residential and the Teen Leader at the Foundation for Free Enterprise.



2021 Recipients

Peter Gorman

Peter Gorman of South Amboy, N.J is a freshman Accounting major. With a 3.75 GPA, he made the Dean’s List during his first semester. 

While currently less involved due to COVID-19, Peter wishes to play on the Ramapo Basketball Team and join the History or Literature Club.

Peter has been working at Costco since the pandemic’s start, and in November of 2020, he was named Employee of the Month for his hard work and dedication. 

Aysha Burgos

Aysha Burgos of Secaucus, N.J. is an Accounting major with a 3.98 GPA. She has made the Dean’s List every semester and is a member of numerous honor societies. 

Aysha has held various executive board positions in the Association of Latinos Moving Ahead and currently serves as Treasurer. She also holds various positions in the Emeritus Chapter of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc.

This summer, she completed an internship at EY through their LAUNCH program, which supplied her with many transferable skills and opportunities to network within the firm.


Vanesa Falisova

“I am very proud of being able to balance my dance career while also working towards my degree,” says Vanesa Falisova of Wayne, N.J. 

Vanesa is a professional ballroom dancer who has represented Team USA at the World Championships, placed 4th in her division at the World Championships, and is a National Champion. 

She is a freshman Marketing major who plans on pursuing a future career in Digital Marketing. 

Matthew Wilcox

Matthew Wilcox is a Finance and Data Science Major originally from Cary, N.C. He has a 3.96 GPA and is on the Dean’s List.

Matthew is a Sophomore Goalkeeper on the Men’s Soccer Team. He is also a Soccer Coach at a local club, where he coaches two travel teams and goalkeepers of various ages. 

After graduating, Matthew strives to pursue a career in creating tools and programs that assist business and finance companies in accomplishing their goals.



2020 Recipients

Keren Ortega

“After graduation, I plan to work in the sustainability department of a company that strives to better its carbon footprint,” says Keren Ortega of North Bergen, N.J. Keren is a Business Administration major with a concentration in Management and Environmental Studies minor. She has a 3.5 GPA and is on the Dean’s List.

At Ramapo, Keren is a resident assistant for the Office of Residence Life, Secretary of Students Together for Environmental Progress (1STEP), and the alternative break student coordinator for the Civic and Community Center.

Audrey Grace Miller

“I believe that accountants tell true stories with numbers. I want to use my skills to help others financially succeed,” says Audrey Grace Miller of River Edge, N.J.  An Accounting major, Audrey has a 4.0 GPA and is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Beta Delta, and Beta Alpha Phi.

Audrey has been active in the Ramapo College Honors Program, Leaders in Service, Phi Beta Delta, Beta Alpha Psi, and the Accounting Club. She is the Treasurer for Phi Beta Delta. For the Honors Program, she is on the Executive Board and is an Honors Developmental Group Leader. She has also volunteered with the Hackensack Riverkeeper, a watershed advocacy non-profit who awarded her with the Volunteer of the Year Award in February 2019.

After graduation, Audrey plans to pursue her CPA certification and a career in accounting for an international organization or business.


Adam Woodward

Adam Woodward of Randolph, N.J. is a Marketing major with a GPA of 3.7. Over the past year, Adam has been working with East Coast Professional Wrestling as a wrestler, and counts music and sports among his interests. After graduating from Ramapo, he aspires to work for a professional sports organization, such as the Yankees or Giants. “While I’m not exactly sure what type of career I’d like to have, I know that I’m a passionate, hard worker.”


Angelo Petillo

“I’m proud that I’ve been able to successfully balance my school, work, leadership roles, and social life,” says Accounting student Angelo Petillo, who is enrolled in Ramapo’s 4+1 MSAC Program. He is from Point Pleasant, N.J.

Angelo has a 3.5 GPA and made Dean’s List Spring 2017 and 2018, and Fall 2018. He is the President of Tau Delta Phi and interns at Corrado Financial Group. He has also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, completing an anti-bullying campaign that positively impacted his community.



2019 Recipients

Angelo Petillo

Angelo Petillo of Point Pleasant, N.J. is an Accounting major. He has a 3.5 GPA and has earned a spot on the Dean’s List several times.

Angelo is the Vice President of Tau Delta Phi fraternity and the Vice President of the Laurel Residence Hall Committee.  Angelo achieved the rank of Eagle Scout through an anti-bullying campaign project that was impactful to his community.  In addition to his studies, Angelo is currently an Accounting Intern at Corrado Financial Group. “I am proud to have successfully balanced my school, work, leadership roles, and social life.”

After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Angelo plans to take the CPA exam and obtain his master’s in Accounting.

Valeriya Shashko

Valeriya Shashko of Wayne, N.J. is an Accounting major who moved to the U.S. from Kazakhstan at the age of eleven. She has a 3.75 GPA, is on the Dean’s List, and is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society..

Valeriya has been involved in Ramapo Admissions Student Ambassadors and Leaders in Service. As part of her involvement with LIS, she volunteered for organizations such as Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization and Habitat for Humanity. She has also volunteered for the Safety Town Program of Wayne.  Recently, she began working as a Starbucks barista.

After graduation, Valeriya is plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in Accounting and take the CPA examination.


Jeffrey Lawrence

Jeffrey Lawrence of Monroe, N.Y. is an Information Technology major with a GPA of 3.7 and has worked hard every semester in earning a spot on the Dean’s List.

At Ramapo, Jeffrey is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, and participates in the Relay for Life event every year.

Jeffrey is an intern at Chester Academy, where he works as a help desk technician in the IT office. His main job while working there is to repair the Chromebooks that are used by the students. “Without Ramapo College, I do not know if I would have been able to push myself to explore these new opportunities.”

After graduation, Jeffrey plans to work in the Networking field of IT.

Dean Cohen

Dean Cohen of Fair Lawn, N.J. is an Accounting major. He has a 3.93 GPA, has made the Dean’s List, and is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society.

Dean has been involved in the ASB Dean’s Advisory Council, the Roadrunner Financial Group, and the Accounting Club.

He has also worked as a mentor for the Foundation for Free Enterprise, where he served as Chairman of the Teen Leadership Council.  In this role he helped promote and organize the FFFE Summer Business Camp for future generations of students.

Dean plans to graduate with an M.S. in Accounting and pursue his CPA certification.

Robert Sartori

Robert Sartori of Ramsey, N.J. is a senior Business Administration major with a concentration in Marketing, and currently holds a 3.8 GPA. He is also a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society and Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society.

He was a member of the Ramapo College Baseball team from his freshman to junior year, and won the 2016 NJAC Championship his freshman year. He is currently employed by KK Entertainment, and looks to pursue a career in television production and writing after he graduates.

He has also participated in Relay for Life, was a volunteer note-taker for disabled students his sophomore year, and helped at the Thanksgiving Food Drive with the baseball team.



2018 Recipients

Theresa Murray

Theresa Murray of Roseland, N.J. is a junior Accounting major.  She has a 3.88 GPA, is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society.  She has made the Dean’s List for fall 2015 and 2016 and spring 2016 and 2017.

She is a member of the Sigma Delta Tau Sorority where she holds the position of Alumnae Chair.  Theresa is currently an accounting intern at Meglio & Odell, PC in Caldwell, N.J. She plans to pursue her CPA certification and hopes to become a forensic accountant.


William T. Sperduto

William T. Sperduto of Middletown, N.J. is a Business Administration major with a concentration in Management and a minor in History.  William’s GPA is 3.8.  He was awarded the 2017 Faculty-Student Research Award for his work with finance professor Murray Sabrin.

At Ramapo, William is part of the Roadrunner Financial Group (student investment club), Enactus, and the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.  The Eagle Scout likes to go for long-distance runs and hikes in state parks and is an avid basketball fan.

After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in supply chain management for a consumer product company.


Kyle Rodemann

Kyle Rodemann of Bridgewater, N.J. is a Business Administration major with concentrations in both Management and Marketing.  He has a 3.665 GPA. He is a recipient of the Provost Scholarship.

At Ramapo, Kyle has been active in intramural sports, as well as the Society for the Advancement of Management, or SAM Club.  As the Marketing Chairman for SAM, he helps to raise the visibility of the club and advertise club events.

Kyle has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts.


Philip Reed

Philip Reed of Succasunna, N.J.  is a junior Business Administration major concentrating in Management.  He has a 3.73 GPA and is proud of making the Dean’s List each semester while at Ramapo.

Philip is part of the ASB Dean’s Advisory Council, the Ramapo Track and Field team, and WRPR Radio.

He has volunteered at the St. Hubert’s Animal Shelter in Mount Olive for the past two years and is currently working as a bus-boy at the Mason Jar. Post-graduation, Philip plans a career in the management field.


Kurt Reber

“The generosity of my donor, the hard work of my parents, and everyone working behind the scenes at Ramapo have given me the opportunity to succeed in life,” says Kurt Reber of Brick, N.J.

The Economics major recently added a double major in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.  “I’m proud that I’ve been able to maintain my consistent academic performance while adding a second major.”  He has a 3.917 GPA and has made the Dean’s List each semester.

In addition to working off campus as a land surveyor, Kurt has participated in Relay for Life and intramural sports on campus.  After graduation, he hopes to pursue a career in either finance or economics.



2017 Recipients

Alyssa Baigas

Alyssa Baigas of Wanaque, NJ is a Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing major. She has a 3.31 GPA.  She hopes to work in the cosmetic marketing field upon graduation.

Alyssa holds the position of alumni chair for her sorority, Sigma Delta Tau, where she helps organize fundraisers for Prevent Child Abuse America and breast cancer walks.

Off campus, she has volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for her church.


Stephen Geerlof

As the Student Trustee for the College’s Board of Trustees, Stephen Geerlof has had the opportunity to represent the student body and learn how the separate divisions of the College come together to provide the best education to its students.  He is also an intern for the Peer Facilitation program and oversees 84 upper class mentors who assist first year students.  “Interning in this role is important to me because I owe much of my success at Ramapo to older students who helped me in my first year,” said Stephen.

Stephen is an Accounting Major, with a minor in Economics, and has a 3.96 GPA.  He has been on the Dean’s List every semester. His hometown is Maywood, NJ.


Jared Michael Hayden

Jared Michael Hayden has had the opportunity to apply his college education in the business world through various marketing internships. “I’ve had several internships where I have been able to contribute in areas such as public relations, social media, and product development,” says Jared.  His off campus internships include stints at Fox News, Today’s Business, and MRC Medical Communications.

At Ramapo, Jared is part of the Business Dean’s Advisory Council, the Honors Program Special Events Committee, and Enactus, as an executive board member.

He has a concentration in Marketing, and an Economics minor, and has been inducted into several honor societies due to his 3.91 GPA.  Jared is from Freehold Township, NJ.


Caitlyn Montgomery

While she was still in high school, Caitlyn Montgomery of Jackson, NJ distinguished herself as an accounting student, earning 5th place in the Accounting Applications Category at the International Career Development Conference for DECA.  She’s continuing her love for Accounting at Ramapo, and has earned an impressive 3.965 GPA.  In addition to her academic achievements, Caitlyn is involved in the Concert Band where she plays the flute and piccolo.  She is also a member of the Accounting Club, and the ASB Dean’s Student Advisory Council.

She recently started interning in the Financial Planning & Analysis department at the Ridgewood Energy Corporation.  Of her scholarship award Caitlyn said, “This scholarship gives both me and my family some peace of mind by allowing me to focus on my studies, have a job and maintain a social life, all of which are really important to me.”


Kurt Reber

Kurt Reber of Brick, NJ is a Business Administration major with a concentration in Finance. He has a 3.867 GPA, and made the Dean’s List in both Fall 2015 and Spring 2016.

At Ramapo, Kurt has helped raise funds for Relay for Life, has joined the Teacher Education Program, and competed in various intramural sports.

Kurt has also been involved off –campus, including working as a land surveyor at Matrix New World for two summers and volunteering his time to help train children in soccer.

An accomplishment that Kurt is proud of is his consistent academic performance and the scholarship that he earned.  He finished in the top five percent of his high school class and he earned a Presidential Scholarship to Ramapo.  Kurt would like to help other people succeed in the same way that his parents, teachers, and other peers have helped him.

After graduating from Ramapo College, he plans to pursue either a career in Finance or as a business teacher, and would also like to continue to volunteer as a youth soccer coach.


Claudia Wetzel

“Every day I strive to not only do my best, but to push myself to do better,” said Claudia Wetzel, a Business Administration major from Blairstown, New Jersey.

Claudia is proud to have served as the Student Representative to the Board of Education during her high school career, where she was also inducted into the National Honor Society.  She continues her involvement here at Ramapo as a forward on the field hockey team and member of the Residence Hall Council and Ramapo Music Club.

“I am so thankful for this scholarship, as it allows me to focus on what is most important, my education,” adds Claudia.


Kevin Mulligan

Kevin Mulligan of Bergenfield, NJ is an Information Technology Management major.  He has a 3.6 grade point average.

At Ramapo, Kevin has been active in several organizations and activities, including Ramapo Admissions Student Ambassadors and Ramapo’s Recycling Program.  He is the student coordinator of the Recycling Program.

Kevin has also been involved in off campus activities and organizations, including working as an intern for the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.



2016 Recipients

Stephen Geerlof

Stephen Geerlof of Maywood, NJ is a Management and Finance double major.

He has a 3.95 GPA and has been on the Dean’s List every semester.

At Ramapo, Stephen is the Alternate Student Trustee for the Board of Trustees, an intern in the Peer Facilitation program, and a member of the ASB Dean’s Advisory Council.


Samantha Howell

Samantha Howell of Old Bridge, NJ is an Accounting major.  She has a 3.7 GPA.  Samantha was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.

When not at Ramapo, Samantha keeps busy with her part time job as a manager at Friendly’s.  Over the summer, she will be interning with the tax division of the New York office of PricewaterhouseCoopers.


Karen Bassil

Karen Bassil is an Accounting major in the Anisfield School of Business.

Htet Htut

Htet Wai Yan Htut of Yangon, Myanmar is an Information Technology Management major.

He has a GPA of 3.955. Htet was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society.

At Ramapo, Htet has been active in the International Student Organization.

Thiri Oo

Thiri Oo is a senior from Burma majoring in Accounting.

Elisabeth Partafylla

Elisabeth Partafylla is a junior from Fairview, NJ majoring in International Business.

Edward Skrzypek

Edward Skrzypek is a senior from East Brunswick, NJ majoring in Accounting.


Binayak Thapa

Binayak Thapa is a sophomore from Nepal majoring in Info Tech Management.


2015 Recipients

Mark Ellebracht

Mark Ellebracht is a senior majoring in accounting at Ramapo. His involvement on campus includes Ramapo Admissions Student Ambassadors, the ASB Dean’s Advisory Council, and a part-time job at the college library; he was also the previous Senate President of the Student Government Association. He will be taking his CPA exam throughout the summer after graduation. After finishing the exam, he will work for Deloitte & Touches’ audit practice. In his spare time, Mark enjoys playing guitar and writing his own creative works.

 


Anthony Darakjy

Anthony Darakjy of Wyckoff, N.J. is a senior accounting major and international business minor. He has a 3.94 grade point average.

At Ramapo, he served as the Student Trustee last year, and now serves as a Senator in the Student Government Association. He will be studying for and taking the CPA exam this summer prior to starting work at Ernst & Young LLP, where he will begin his career upon graduation.


Lisa DiNozzi

 

Lisa DiNozzi of Paramus, N.J. is an accounting major. She has a 3.95 grade point average.  Lisa was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the Golden Key Honor Society, and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. She has also been on the Dean’s List for every semester at Ramapo College.

At Ramapo, Lisa is a consultant in the Center for Reading and Writing, and is a math tutor in the TAS Tutoring center.

Lisa has also been involved in off –campus activities and organizations, including the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.


Jessica Perez

Jessica Perez of Belleville, N.J. is an accounting major with a minor in Spanish language studies.  She has a 3.76 grade point average.

At Ramapo, Jessica is president of the Ramapo Chorale. She is also the vice president of the College Republicans.  Jessica has membership in Omicron Delta Kappa, the Golden Key International Honour Society, and Sigma Delta Pi. She is a research assistant in the Anisfield School of Business.

Jessica will be starting this fall as a tax associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers and will be studying for the CPA exam this summer.


Ashley Walker

Ashley Walker of Washington Township, N.J. is a business administration major with a concentration in marketing.  She has a 3.6 grade point average.

At Ramapo, Ashley has been active in several organizations and activities, including Sigma Delta Tau sorority and Relay for Life.  She served as assistant new member educator for the sorority.


Sean Allen

At Communications High School in Monmouth County, Sean Allen played indoor soccer and was a soccer referee. He participated in the national academic competition, SkillsUSA, in the Quiz Bowl of general knowledge and trivia. He also was a member of student government. He designed a game called Frog Pond, currently in production. It taught him “through hard work, a little cooperation, and a lot of determination I can do anything I set my mind to.” Sean plans to major in Business Administration/Finance and has a 3.70 grade point average.


Saroj Maharjan

Saroj Maharjan is an international student from Nepal majoring in economics and accounting. He has a grade point average of 3.94.
On campus, Saroj has participated in the Federal Reserve Challenge, the CFA Research Challenge Team, the KPMG mentorship program and the United Nation’s DPI Public Youth Conference.



2014 Recipients

Joshua Raymundo

Joshua Raymundo of Roxbury, NJ is an Accounting major. He is co-president of the United Asian Association, a member of Enactus and a peer facilitator. Joshua was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. After graduation, Joshua plans to become a CPA. “Receiving the scholarship has shown me that my efforts have been recognized. It also allows me to concentrate on my education without having to worry about finances,” he said. Joshua has a 3.48 grade point average.


Santo Tiralosi

Santo Tiralosi is from Morristown, NJ. He is a junior majoring in Accounting.

Daniel Lowe

Freshman Daniel Lowe is a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School where he was a member of the Mock Trial team and participated in student government. Throughout high school, Daniel was a member of Crusaders for Christian Action, a service group dedicated to helping the less fortunate, in addition to working with his church youth group. He played football and tennis during his first two years and was an ambassador for the admissions office. At Ramapo, Daniel is planning to major in Business Administration/ Marketing and has a 3.15 grade point average. Daniel is from Maywood, NJ.

This scholarship is allowing me to pursue my dreams and is giving me the opportunity to learn what I need to be successful in my career as I go forward in life.

Gelline De Guzman

Gelline De Guzman of Elmwood Park, N.J., is an accounting major. She carries two minors, economics and international business. She has a 3.91 grade point average. Gelline has been inducted into the Golden Key Honour Society and Alpha Lambda Delta.
At Ramapo, Gelline is treasurer for the Student Government Association and is a member of Enactus. She is the business manager for Ramapo News.
Gelline plans to graduate a year early, become a CPA and pursue an MBA and Ph.D. so she will be uniquely qualified to start her own business.


Christopher Bumbaco

Christopher Bumbaco was an outstanding student at Dumont High School and earned a Scholarship to attend Ramapo College. He is a Business Administration/ Marketing major and has earned a 3.48 grade point average. In high school, Chris helped launch a Big Brother/Big Sister program for freshmen and was a member of the Spanish Club. He worked at a local supermarket, as a political party volunteer in his town, and at his church.

Nichole Francisco

Nichole Francisco of New Milford, NJ is a Business Administration major with a concentration in Marketing. She is minoring in Music. Nichole is a member of Enactus, the Filipino American Student Association and the Ramapo College Honors Program. She was named to Alpha Psi Omega, the National Theater Honor Society. Nichole also holds a job off campus. She will graduate with honors. “I am very happy that my hard work from high school and college has paid off,” she said. “Education in this country is expensive. I believe that rewarding excellent students with scholarships is a great practice.” Nichole has a 4.00 grade point average.

Keith Ellebracht

 

Keith Ellebracht of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. is an accounting major and an international business minor.

He currently has a 3.8 grade point average, and is part of Alpha Lambda Delta.

At Ramapo, Keith has been active in several organizations and activities, including Residence Life, RASA, and the Ramapo Honors Program. He is currently a Resident Assistant in Bischoff Hall, will be an Assistant Resident Director in Bischoff Hall starting in the fall, and is on the student executive board for the Honors Program.

Keith is also involved in off campus activities and organizations, such as Meals With a Mission.

 


2013 Recipients

Spencer Englander

Spencer Englander is a Business Administration major with a concentration in Management. In addition to completing the academic requirements at West Milford Township High School, Spencer expressed his personal interests by taking Advanced Photography, Oceanography, Microbiology and Immunology and Philosophy. He served as president of Mu Alpha Theta, a Mathematics honor society, leader of the Environmental Club and as a member of the Interact Club. Spencer explains, “I’ve had a strong drive to live my life at an accelerated pace and seek challenges in my academic pursuits.” Spencer has a 3.50 grade point average.

This scholarship will provide me with the financial resources I need to enrich my education and experience at Ramapo College.

Charles Schreiber

Charlie Schreiber of Woodcliff Lake, N.J., is a finance major and an economics minor. He has a 3.7 grade point average and is a member of the Golden Key Honors Society.

At Ramapo, Charlie has been active in several organizations and activities, including Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, and the Ramapo Rock Climbing Team.

Charlie has also been involved in off –campus activities and organizations, including: being an athlete and ambassador for The North Face, and running his company InvestorsCorner.org.


Jordan Vadala

Jordan Vadala of Midland Park, NJ was homeschooled, earning his high school diploma through the Alpha Omega Academy. He was named Student of the Month by a teacher at the Academy for identifying errors in the curriculum content and offering suggestions for improvement. At Ramapo, Jordan plans to major in Information Systems and has earned a 3.52 grade point average.

This scholarship is important to me because it helps ease the cost of college. It also shows me that my hard work in high school paid off, and that I should be pleased with my achievements.

Daniel Zavoda

Daniel Zavoda of East Brunswick, NJ is interested in Accounting. In high school he completed a variety of course work that included Chef’s Lab and Foods Workshop, Marine Biology, Economics and AP Calculus. He was a lifeguard at his town’s swim club and competed as a member of the club’s swim team, where he was a finalist in the backstroke in the championship meet.

Nicholas Fondacaro

Nicholas Fondacaro of North Haledon, NJ is a Business Administration major with a concentration in Finance. He packed his high school years at DePaul Catholic High School with a rigorous Advanced Placement and Honors course load and extracurricular activities. In high school Nicholas was a star baseball player and was a founding member of two clubs, Finer Things and Stock Market. He also was a member of the Weightlifters Club and the JV/Varsity Indoor Track team.

Kevin Iozia

Freshman Kevin Iozia of Highland Lakes, NJ is interested in Management, particularly managing a sports team. At Vernon Township High School Kevin was inducted into the German National Honor Society and the Science Honor Society. He was captain of the Junior Varsity volleyball team and earned a varsity letter as a sophomore. He also earned a varsity letter for soccer. Kevin is proud to have made eight trips to Ireland, his mother’s birthplace, and for three strong friendships he’s developed there. He views himself as a junior ambassador to both Ireland and the United States, dispelling myths and correcting misperceptions about the people of both countries.

I believe that this scholarship will allow me to further my education by relieving some of the financial strain typically associated with college.

Katherine Riccobene

Katherine Riccobene is enrolled in the Anisfield School of Business and is completing several core courses before choosing a major. She earned college credit for English through Fairleigh Dickinson University and completed AP Economics and Modern European History. Katherine has a 3.82 grade point average. She is from Franklin Lakes, NJ.


2012 Recipients

Muneshwar Samlall

Muneshwar Samlall of New Milford, NJ is a Business Administration major with a concentration in Finance and an International Business minor. He participated in the China Immersion Experience and plans to create economic and econometric analyses of the United States and China. Muneshwar viewed his trip as fieldwork and an extension of his learning experiences for his major and minor, one that will serve as the basis of the thesis he needs to complete for the Honors Program. Muneshwar has served on the Executive Board and Special Events Committee and as a peer facilitator for the Honors Program. He also serves on ASB’s Dean’s Student Council Advisory Board and the Pushing Boundaries Integrated Marketing Committee. He was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. Muneshwar has a 3.21 grade point average.


Michael DeStasio

Michael DeStasio of Iselin, NJ took a demanding Honors track of courses in high school. As a sophomore, he doubled up on accelerated math courses. Michael is an avid runner and ran on the high school’s Winter and Spring Varsity teams and was named Athlete of the Month for his participation in Cross Country. His guidance counselor credits the sports with enhancing Michael’s focus and discipline. He also participated in a peer mentoring outreach program called Heroes and Cool Kids. An Eagle Scout, Michael received the Mayor’sYouth Volunteer Award in 2008. The school’s motto is the “three As: academics, athletics, and the arts.” Michael’s guidance counselor said he achieved success in all of them.

I would like to tell the Anisfields that I am beyond grateful for this scholarship, which will ease the financial burden on myself and my family, giving me the opportunity to better focus my time on studies.

Ryan Ericson

Ryan Ericson of Spotswood, NJ immersed himself in the art programs his high school offered. He took Honors Fine Arts and AP Advanced Placement Art Studio in addition to Honors academic courses. Ryan’s Fine Arts teacher described him as a student who “strives to achieve a high level of perfection and whose self-criticism is insightful without being overly harsh.” Still, Ryan has chosen to major in Business Administration and plans to have his own business. In high school, he was a member of the Wrestling and Football teams as well as the Math League. Ryan participated in coat drives for a local hospital and held a job with the school’s custodial staff.

Nicholas Sourbis

Nicholas Sourbis of Secaucus, NJ participated in many community service programs as a high school student: toy, food and clothing drives; a Foreign Language Festival; Easter Bunny Breakfast; Haunted High School event and Relay for Life. He was a member of the Foreign Language and Engineering clubs and the Chorus. To earn money, Nicholas was a babysitter. In addition, he was accepted into Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and the American Technology Honor Society. Nicholas has been described by his English teacher as a “well-rounded student who is organized and involved.” Nicholas is a student undoubtedly ready to take on challenges at Ramapo College.

This scholarship has helped me to achieve my professional goals by giving me and my family relief from college debt.

Eli Moskowitz

Eli Moskowitz of Midland Park, NJ is deciding which major he’d like to pursue in the Anisfield School of Business. He’s expressed an interest in the College’s Pre- Law program. Knowledgeable and worldly, Eli traveled to Rome and Paris between his sophomore and junior years. He received his high school’s Merit Award for outstanding achievements in academic and citizenship activities. Eli was a member of the Biology and Chemistry teams and received a Chemistry Team Award. He held two jobs, one in a warehouse and the other as an aftercare counselor watching and helping children with their homework. An avid fan of the Metal Gear series of games, he has adopted the game’s “Procure on sight” instructions as his guidepost. He aims to fight for his belief in what is right and to succeed in completing his mission–which for now, is his college career at Ramapo. Eli says he will use “valuable problem solving skills that I have gained by living vicariously through the cast of the Metal Gear series.”

Thomas Fierro

Thomas Fierro of Haledon, NJ managed a demanding schedule of Honors and AP courses in high school. An athlete who plays football, basketball and baseball, Thomas was named captain of the varsity baseball team as a freshman and earned an Honorable Mention in the county. He continued to show his leadership qualities by being named captain of the Junior Varsity basketball team as a sophomore. Thomas enjoyed a stand-out year as a junior, named MVP and also 2nd Team All League and All County. He also was active in DECA and was named to the National Honor Society, where he served as treasurer in his senior year. An outstanding scholar athlete, Thomas was ranked in the top five of his graduating class.

Anthony Darakjy

Anthony Darakjy of Wyckoff, NJ is an Accounting major and an International Business minor. This spring, Anthony participated in the China Immersion Experience, which took him to Beijing, Shanghai and rural China. He believes the experience will help him to become a better student and businessperson. Anthony is a Student Trustee of the College’s Student Government Association, serves on ASB’s Dean’s Student Council Advisory Board, is a Student Ambassador, co-founder of Building Tomorrow and a member of the Accounting and Finance Clubs. He has completed internships at Bank of America and Aegis Insurance Services. His community service activities include the College’s Leaders in Service Program and SIFE. Anthony has a 3.96 grade point average.



2011 Recipients

Delina Agnosteva

Delina Agnosteva, of Bulgaria, is majoring in Economics and International Business. She’s completed internships at Pearson Education, Alternative Assets Investment Management and The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria. In addition, she serves as treasurer of the Math and Finance clubs, secretary of the International Business Club and handes public relations for the Model United Nations Club. She also competed in the NewYork Mercantile Exchange Open Outcry and served on the Anisfield School of Business Student Advisory Board. Delina, who is enrolled in the College Honors Program, has a 3.97 grade point average. At Ramapo, she says, “I found a path that will utilize my inquisitive nature and will satiate my curiosity and drive for knowledge.” She plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics.

The scholarship that I have received is a great recognition of my academic efforts. I will continue striving to achieve all my future goals.

Nezabravka Dzhogleva

Nezabravka Dzhogleva of Bulgaria is a Business Administration major with a concentration in Finance. Part of the reason she chose Finance is because “the recent financial crisis proved that business, and in particular the finance field, needs reliable and ethical people who have the knowledge and capability of preventing and taming such circumstances.” Perserverance is a constant in Nezabravka’s life: she has supported herself financially since coming to the United States in 2009 by holding positions at the College and at area businesses. Nezabravka, who has a 3.97 grade point average, was named to Delta Mu Delta and is a member of the International Student Organization and the Finance Club. She says, “My academic record and relationships with my past and current employers are proof of the skills I possess and of my perseverance to give my best in everything I deal with.”

Zhasmina Baramova

Zhasmina Baramova, who is from Bulgaria, has two majors: Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Mathematics. Among her achievements is becoming a member of the New Jersey Collegiate Business Administration Association. She also was inducted into two honor societies, Delta Mu Delta and Pi Mu Epsilon. She has participated in theWilliam Lowell Putnam Competition in Mathematics, one of the most prestigious undergraduate contests and the Model United Nations. Zhasmina, who has a 3.98 grade point average, is a research assistant for two of her Finance professors. “I know how it feels to reach a valuable result after months of hard work—the satisfaction and success are inexpressible.” She plans to obtain a Ph.D. and become a professor.


Johnny Olsson

Johnny Olsson, of Sweden, is an International Business major. He attended a high school program geared toward students interested in business. His passion for business was fueled by a high school project that involved starting a company and running it throughout the school year. His company’s mission was to distribute free newspapers to high school students and have it financed through advertisements. Creating budgets, recording transactions and preparing financial statements gave Johnny “a taste of what the business world has to offer and to explore it more.” A junior, Johnny has a 3.84 grade point average.

Robert Bolejszo

Robert Bolejszo is a senior from Cliffside Park, NJ majoring in Business Administration and Psychology. He is a sergeant in the New Jersey National Guard, and his unit will be deployed in September of this year. Robert has taken a maximum load of classes each semester in order to complete his degrees prior to deployment. He plans to enter an MBA program upon his return home.

Michael Chananie

“I am pursuing a Business Management major with a minor in Accounting,” says Michael Chananie, a senior. “I work at Holy Name Medical Center in its marketing department, following an internship I had a few summers back.” Michael is a volunteer at the Jewish Community Center of Paramus and for the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey. On campus Michael holds leadership positions with Hillel, the Honors Program, Donate Life Ramapo, and plays on the intramural volleyball team. With a 3.89 grade point average, he is member of a number of honor societies. “I plan to continue pursuing management in the health care industry,” he says, “by attending graduate school in the fall.”


Lazaro Hernandez

Lazaro Hernandez is a senior from Cliffside Park, NJ. He is an Accounting major and plans to stay at Ramapo College to earn an MBA. Lazaro, after becoming a CPA, will apply to law school and study Tax Law. He plans to work with his brother a CPA and attorney.



2010 Recipients

Paul Coraggio

Paul Coraggio of Hazlet, NJ is interested in the sustainable business model, a career in which he can pair his major of International Business with his minor, Environmental Science. He plans to work with an international not-for-profit business to better develop, network and increase the sustainability of small and local businesses. Paul, who has a 3.93 grade point average, is a member of the President’s Climate Commitment Committee, and plays a leadership role in the student club, Environmental Alliance. Paul plans to continue his education in either environmental law or obtain a public service MBA.


Raya Karova

Raya Karova is enrolled in the Anisfield School of Business and has earned a 4.00 grade point average. She works for the Center for Academic Success as a math tutor, and is a member of the Delta Mu Delta and New Jersey Collegiate Business Administration Association honor societies. On campus Raya is a member of the Finance Club, the International Student Organization and the SIFE Team, and has volunteered for the homeless at the Apostles House and for Project Chairs, which raised funds to purchase equipment for a school in Afghanistan. “After working for a few years to gain a valuable practical experience,” Raya says, “I plan to pursue a master’s degree in Europe in search of more in depth skills and knowledge in the sphere of finance and accounting.”

The generous scholarship I have received has given me the opportunity to pursue my academic goals and prepare to be a competent professional.

Radina Dimitrova

Radina Dimitrova was valedictorian of her class in her hometown in Bulgaria and placed eighth in a competition for young poets. Radina credits her participation in a Socrates Program, a European educational project, for enriching her knowledge about other countries and their cultures and traditions. She completed a 30-hour seminar, “Let’s Learn to CommunicateWithout Aggression” as part of the Future 2005 Youth Organization Association. Radina says her inspiration to “become a leader is not the desire to control; it is the eagerness to collaborate with people.” She is a Business Administration major at Ramapo with a concentration in Marketing and has earned a 3.97 grade point average.

Mihail Velikov

Bulgarian native Mihail Velikov is a junior at Ramapo and has earned an outstanding 4.00 grade point average. He is majoring in business administration with a concentration in finance. Mihail is president of the Math Club and is a member of the ASB Student Advisory Board. He also is the student representative to the Investment Committee of the Ramapo College Foundation Board. He is a member of the soccer team and works on campus in the Bill Bradley Recreation Center.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the generous scholarship I received. In a climate of ever-decreasing governmental support of higher education, this scholarship will enable me to focus on my studies with financial certainty.

Mariya Bistrina

Mariya Bistrina is an accounting major in the Anisfield School of Business. A junior, she has earned a grade point average of 3.96. Mariya is from Bulgaria.

Thanks to the scholarship, I have the chance to receive my education in the country of the ‘big opportunities.’ I am very happy to be who I am: a student at Ramapo College.

Natalie Howell

Natalie Howell is from Cream Ridge, New Jersey and is sophomore at Ramapo College. She has earned an exceptional 4.00 grade point average. Natalie is majoring in business administration with a concentration in finance.

Viktoriya Staneva

Viktoriya Staneva of Bulgaria is a Finance major with minors in Mathematics and International Business. She wants to become a professor. Viktoriya hopes to help young people achieve their goals and inspire them to reach their full potential —the same way her professors did for her. She has held several paying jobs on campus and is active in the Finance, Math and Model U.N. Clubs, among others. Viktoriya, who has a 3.98 grade point average, would consider it a great honor to become a colleague of one of her Ramapo professors.

As the recipient of this scholarship I am so grateful for the opportunity to receive the education that I want and to become all that I can be.
