A Special Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald will be Presented at Ramapo College

MAHWAH – Recording artist Freda Payne will perform a special musical tribute to Ella Fitzgerald at Ramapo College in February.

Payne, the star of Broadway shows including “Jelly’s Last Jam” and “Sophisticated Ladies” will conjure the spirit of Ella in this musical play with her renditions of standards like “Mack the Knife,” “Sweet Georgia Brown” and “It Don’t Mean a Thing.”  Payne, a celebrated R&B and jazz vocalist, shot to fame with the hit, “Band of Gold.”

This Valentine’s Day celebration will be presented Saturday, February 14 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater, located in The Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for the Performing and Visual Arts.  Tickets cost $25, $22 and $19 for adults and $12 for children under 17.  Senior citizens, WBGO Radio and N.J. Jazz Society members will receive 20% off regular ticket prices.  To order tickets, call the box office at 201.684.7844.
