Critical Thinking
Graduates of the program will possess critical thinking skills and an in-depth understanding of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This will enable them to identify financial problems and employ the applicable research skills necessary to provide effective solutions to improve business practices. Graduates will also be able to identify current emerging domestic and international issues in the accounting profession and the resulting strategic impact on business.
Ethics
Graduates will understand the importance of professional responsibility and adhere to the ethical standards of the accounting profession. Students will learn how to identify ethical deficiencies in the accounting process and recommend effective and viable solutions. Each student will also possess the capacity to comprehend their professional responsibility, the significance of regulatory guidelines and the importance of risk management, internal control compliance and corporate responsibility and governance.
Knowledge of Regulation and Technology
Students will gain an in-depth understanding of regulatory processes and procedures and how technology affects and impacts regulation. Graduates will develop the professional skeptical judgment necessary to accurately interpret data for an effective auditing outcome. Students will also develop an understanding of the importance of information technology in the accurate preparation of financial statements and the impact on the auditing process.
Communication
Students will be effective oral and written communicators. Each student will possess the ability to work as part of a team and to collaborate effectively in the group dynamic.
Building on a Respected Reputation
Ramapo College’s Master of Science in Accounting (MSAC) program is a new, graduate-level program for those seeking CPA certification or higher level knowledge in the accounting field. Ramapo accounting graduates are in high demand by local, regional and national accounting firms, including the “Big Four” firms. The Ramapo MSAC program will build on that reputation and provides students the opportunity to complete a total of 150 required credits for the CPA License before beginning work.
For maximum flexibility and convenience, all MSAC graduate classes are offered ONLINE.
