The Business Analytics minor curriculum has two required courses: Business Analytics I and Business Analytics II. The Business Analytics I course provides students with the fundamental concepts and tools needed to understand the emerging role of business analytics in organizations. The course covers managerial statistical tools in descriptive analytics and predictive analytics, including probability distributions, sampling and estimation, statistical inference, and regression analysis. Students also learn how to communicate with analytics professionals using basic data visualization techniques to effectively use and interpret analytic models and results for making better business decisions. The second required course, Business Analytics II, provides students with advanced concepts and tools needed to understand the role of business analytics in organizations. Topics would include forecasting, risk analysis, simulation, data mining, and decision analysis. Emphasis is on applications, concepts and interpretation of results as well as conducting statistical analyses. The BA minor also consists of three electives that students can use to develop skills and knowledge in a specialized area of business analytics.
