“Hola! I graduated from Ramapo College in 2009. I graduated with a major in Spanish Language Studies, minor in Latin American Studies, and teacher certification for Spanish K-12. Just this year, I began my career as a Spanish teacher at Wall High School in Monmouth County. I teach Spanish 2 and Spanish 2 Honors with students in grades 9-12.”

“The Spanish program at Ramapo greatly impacted my ability to land this teaching job. The size of the program and small classes with individualized attention allowed my Spanish speaking ability to grow and develop to the level I am at now. The program and classes prepared me for success on the Spanish Praxis and OPI which are requirements to pass to earn a teaching certificate for Spanish. The immersion like classes in the Spanish program were great ways to practice and speak the language when it was not my native language at home.”

“Spanish has impacted my life in ways I never could have expected. My eyes have been opened to the world that exists beyond my home. From the Spanish program at Ramapo and my experiences abroad in Bilbao, Spain, I have a greater appreciation and love for the Spanish language and cultures. Spanish is an important language to know, especially where we live in the world and diversity growing every day.”

“I enjoy sharing this appreciation with my students so they better understand and realize the importance of learning a second language and about the cultures that exist beyond their own. Knowing Spanish has allowed me to communicate with people from all over the world and get to learn about the places they come from. I love being able to share my knowledge and language abilities to the youth to better prepare them for the globalized world we live in.”
