Peer Mentor Application (PDF)

ENHANCE is a therapeutic program at Ramapo College focusing on social, emotional, and organizational growth to assist autistic students in adapting and flourishing in college.  ENHANCE mentors will be trained to assist students in making a positive transition to college life, stay in contact with students, and assist in self-advocacy and efforts toward independence.  Peer Mentors will help with planning and attending social events for students and also attend weekly training meetings with the Assistant Director.  For more information and an application, email enhance@ramapo.edu or stop by the Counseling Center, Room D-216.

Job Description:

• Time commitment of 4-5 hours per week
• Weekly one-on-one meetings with ENHANCE students
• Attend weekly training meeting with ENHANCE Assistant Director
• Assist students with transition to college life and campus, if applicable
• Assist students in navigating campus and campus resources
• Provide social support and encourage integration into wider college community
• Provide positive reinforcement for students and encourage self-advocacy
• Be a good academic and social role model for the students
• Keep in weekly contact with students by phone, email and text
• Plan, attend and lead social activities with ENHANCE students
• Keep weekly logs of time spent with students
• Communicate regularly with Assistant Director
• Agree to all expectations of confidentiality
