Peer Mentor Application (PDF)

ENHANCE is a therapeutic program at Ramapo College focusing on social, emotional, and organizational growth to assist students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in adapting and flourishing in college.  ENHANCE mentors will be trained to assist students in making a positive transition  to college life, stay in contact with students, and assist in self-advocacy and efforts toward independence.   Peer Mentors will help with planning and attending social events for students and also attend weekly training meetings with the Program Coordinator.  For more information and an application, email or stop by the Counseling Center, Room D-216.

Job Description:

  • Time commitment of 4-5 hours per week
  • Weekly meetings with a Ramapo College student diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum
  • Attend weekly training meeting with Program Coordinator
  • Assist student with transition to college life and campus, if applicable
  • Assist student in navigating campus and campus resources
  • Provide social support and encourage integration into wider college community
  • Provide positive reinforcement for the student and encourage self-advocacy
  • Be a good academic and social role model for the student
  • Keep in weekly contact with the student by phone, email and text
  • Plan, attend and lead social activities with ENHANCE students
  • Keep weekly logs of time spent with the student
  • Communicate regularly with Program Coordinator
  • Agree to all expectations of confidentiality
