Weekend Edition 2/26-3/1

Friday, February 27th at 8 am join the Civic and Community Engagement Center for their service trip to House on a Hill in Goshen, NY. House on the Hill is a day care center that works specifically with children from immigrant families. Volunteers will have the opportunity to spend a day working with these children and assisting teachers in their classrooms with various activities. Make sure to take advantage of this learning experience and potential CEC opportunity! Later that night, get ready to enjoy great music at the Indie Music Festival at 10pm in the Pavilion. Student and local bands will be showcasing their talent in a night full of musical fun! Contact NJ Gordon at ngordon1@ramapo.edu with questions!

Saturday, February 28th join the Center for Civic Engagement Center for their weekly service trip to Teaneck, NJ for tutoring at 9:30 am! They will be focusing on subjects such as Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Arts & Crafts. No experience in tutoring is necessary. This project is great for students seeking CEC credit and for those in the process of receiving their teaching certification! The Ramapo College Music Program, Ramapo Music Club, and the Mahwah Museum Concert will present the 2015 Les Paul Tribute Festival at 8 pm in the Sharp Theater. Tickets are $5 for students with Ramapo ID. Later that night, the College Programming Board is hosting the Indie Movie Festival at 10 pm in the H-Wing Auditorium. They will be screening the films Boyhood and The Spectacular Now. If you missed these hit movies in theaters, be sure to stop by!

But the fun doesn’t end with the weekend! Every Tuesday the College Programming Board presents the Tuesday Night Live Series. Each week features either a live performance by a comedian, musical artist, slam poet, spoken word artist or magician or an open mic night during which Ramapo students have the opportunity to showcase their talent. Next Tuesday, March 3rd So Long Solo will be performing at Friends Hall at 10 pm! So Long Solo is an acoustic indie/pop duo that has traveled abroad performing their music, raising money, and volunteering for those in need. Their performance style is very laid back, and tea will be served at the event to enforce the relaxed, coffee house feel.
