Weekend Edition 2/19-2/22

Thursday, February 19th tickets for Chicago go on sale at Roadrunner Central at 8 a.m. The date of the trip is March 12th and the bus leaves campus at 4:30 p.m. Tickets prices are $40 for the first ticket and $50 for the second, with a 2 ticket purchase maximum. That evening, Equity and Diversity Life is hosting a Past and Present event at 5p.m in the Alumni Lounges. This event will consist of a discussion about past and present Black leadership in America and how it has evolved and changed over the years. This will be a great learning experience and discussion forum opportunity for students and faculty alike! Finally, head to J. Lee’s at 10 pm for the Karaoke for a Cause event co-sponsored by the College Programming Board and Relay for Life. Come sing your favorite tunes with friends to support a great cause and learn more about the Relay for Life event happening on March 6th at 7 pm in the Bradley Center. Be sure to bring singles to support Relay’s organization and help multiply the fun! Don’t miss out!

Friday, February 20th the annual African Ancestry Month Fashion Show is happening at 8 p.m. in the Bradley Center! Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students, $12 for guests, and $5 for just the after party. They can be purchased ahead of time at Roadrunner Central or at the door the night of the show. This year’s show theme is Vintage Vogue featuring unique retro pieces from three different designers, incredible music from DJ Dark Kent, and special guest Yaris Sanchez as host! The runway show is followed by an after party in Friends Hall with music and dancing. Keep an eye out for additional updates on the Vintage Vogue event page on Facebook and the official Twitter page @rcnjfashion2015!

Saturday, February 21st at 9:30 am join the Civic and Community Engagement Center for their weekly service trip to Teaneck, NJ for tutoring! They will be focusing on subjects such as Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Arts & Crafts. No experience in tutoring is necessary. This project is great for students seeking CEC credit and for those in the process of receiving their teaching certification! That night, College Programming Board is hosting a Roller Skating event in the Bradley Center Auxiliary Gym at 9 p.m. A rink will be set up in the center of the room, and students will be provided with roller skates, free of charge. Skate the night away with friends at this exciting event!

But the fun doesn’t end with the weekend! Every Tuesday the College Programming Board presents the Tuesday Night Live Series. Each week features either a live performance by a comedian, musical artist, slam poet, spoken word artist or magician or an open mic night during which Ramapo students have the opportunity to showcase their talent. This February 24th come to Linden Hall at 9 p.m. for Open Mic Night as a part of Linden Coffee House and perform for fellow students or watch others perform live!
