Megan Johnston (Pronouns: she/her/hers) holds a Master’s of Science in Social Work degree, focusing on Social Enterprise Administration, from Columbia University. She achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Rutgers University, where she dual majored in Social Work and Women’s and Gender Studies with a minor in Critical Sexualities Studies.

Relevant Experience

Megan joined the Center of Health and Counseling Services at Ramapo College of New Jersey as a health educator in September 2021. Prior to joining the team at CHCS, Megan worked in education program evaluation with the Center for Effective School Practices at Rutgers University and with New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Her health education programming experience was gained through her work with Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central, and Southern New Jersey and her own role as a peer educator during her undergraduate studies.

Professional Interests

Megan collaborates with different stakeholders on campus and in the community for health promotion. She coordinates the Wellness Is Now Peer Education program and the Mindfulness Ambassadors and is a member of the Bergen County Higher Education Addiction Prevention Consortium (BC HEAP). As part of BC HEAP, Megan is part of the steering committee for the Ramapo College Health Promotion and Substance Use Disorder Prevention task force. Her professional interests include health promotion programming, social marketing, program evaluation and grant writing. Megan is passionate about the benefits of peer to peer education for both students on campus and peer educators. She approaches her programming from a framework of harm reduction, mindfulness and intersectionality.

Personal Interests

In her free time, Megan enjoys live music, hiking, and reading, but most
often, you will find her at home cuddling with her two cats.
