Housing Procedures
Check-In

Interns must:
- Present government-issued photo ID
- Sign the check-in agreement online
- Submit a $200 damage deposit (check)
- Submit rent checks (per the payment Timeline)
Interns receive:
- Apartment access card (to be kept with photo ID)
- Internet and mailbox instructions
- Room Inventory (emailed)
- Copy of signed agreement (emailed)
💡 Note: Rent checks cannot be prorated or adjusted once deposited.

Before leaving, interns must:
- Remove all personal items and mail
- Clear trash and report damages
- Return access card to Village Hall Office
Early departures:
- Must be requested by July 1 and 14+ days in advance
- One complimentary adjustment is allowed
- Late or additional requests = $50 fee

- Fitness Center: $25 summer membership ([purchase info])
- Laundry: Free, Thomases Commons (access card required)
- Mail & Packages:
- Mail format provided at check-in
- Packages picked up at Village Hall ([Amazon Locker “Ming” option available])
- Parking: Summer permit required ([Parking Office Info])

- Health: Campus Health Services not available; emergencies via Public Safety
- Trash: Dumpsters only; recycling not collected in summer
- Power Outages: Emergency generator supports lights only. Keep flashlights handy.

Highlights:
- Alcohol: Entire campus is dry (no exceptions)
- Drugs: Illegal drugs prohibited; violations = eviction & arrest
- Canibus: Possession of canibus anywhere on campus is prohibited
- Candles/Incense: Not permitted under fire safety laws
- Cooking: Most small indoor household appliances are OK; no grills or propane
- Guests: Must register via kiosk after 10 PM; overnight stays max 3 nights
- Noise: Quiet hours enforced (see [Noise Policy])
- Pets: Not allowed
- Windows/Screens: Do not remove or throw items from windows
- Fire Alarms/Exits: Exit immediately; fines $50–$250 for malicious or negligent activations
- Halogen Lamps: Prohibited; $50 fine per lamp
- Furniture: Do not remove or store outside apartments
- Windows/Screens: Cannot remove or exit; objects cannot be thrown out
Guests: Overnight stays limited to 3 nights; host responsible; guest registration required after 10 PM
- Noise: Quiet hours:
- Sun–Thu: 11 PM – 8 AM
- Fri–Sat: 1 AM – 12 PM
- Courtesy quiet hours: 24/7
- Pets: Not permitted

Room Inspections
- “Plain view” inspections ensure health and safety
- Dates listed on the Timeline
- Violations may incur fines starting at $50 and could result in housing contract cancellation
Lock-Outs & Lost Access Cards
- Carry your apartment access card at all times
- Locked out? Contact the Village Hall Office during operating hours
- After hours, contact Public Safety: (201) 684-6666
- Lost access card replacement fee: $15
Rent Collection
- Must comply with deadlines listed on the Timeline
- Late or bounced checks may incur fees
- Payments are made at the Village Hall Office
Maintenance Notices
Ramapo conducts facility maintenance during the summer. Expect occasional construction noise or activity near apartments. Residence Life staff will minimize disruptions as much as possible.
