General Education

As New Jersey’s Public Liberal Arts College, Ramapo College provides a high quality education which is based in the liberal arts.  Through a common General Education program spanning the 100-300 levels, students will be provided the opportunity to develop core skills related to a liberal education.

Required courses include First Year Seminar or Honors Seminar, Critical Reading and Writing II, Studies in the Arts and Humanities, and Social Science Inquiry.   Other requirements include courses in the following categories:   Historical Perspectives, Global Awareness, Quantitative Reasoning, Scientific Reasoning, Culture & Creativity, Systems, Sustainability & Society, and Values & Ethics.

All Ramapo College students must complete the General Education requirements in Critical Reading and Writing II and Quantitative Reasoning by the time that they have earned 64 credit hours.
