Professor Weissman will bring his Intermediate and Advanced Sculpture classes to the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. The MASS MoCA houses some of the largest and most ambitious art installations of our day.

Accompanying a museum tour, Professor Weissman has arranged for the students to visit the resident artist studios housed at the museum.

Professor John Peffer will bring his African Art class to view the Africa collection at the metropolitan Museum of Art on October 27th, 2017.

Professor Jackie Skrzynski will bring the students of her ARTS 302-Intermediate Drawing class to Dia: Beacon & Lee Price’s Studio.

This trip coincides with several assignments in Intermediate Drawing addressing conceptual approaches to contemporary drawing. Before the trip, students will research Sol Lewitt, specifically his wall drawings. Dia: Beacon contains the best collection of his wall drawings in the area, and has a world class collectino of conceptual and minimal art showcased uniquely in a massive, renovated factory.

At Lee Price’s studio, students will see works in progress, hear her discuss her work, her process, and life as an artist.

This trip will encompass two separate art institutions, Storm King Sculpture Park and Dia Beacon Museum. The day beings at Storm King where students will be broken up into two groups led by the faculty of teh represented courses. While at Storm King, students will alternate presenting on various works of art to the group, prepared beforehand, while still leaving time to explore and experience the grounds. After lunch, the group will go to Dia: Beacon Museum where they will be led on a docent tour of the museum. During this tour the docent will provide inside information on the collection as well as antidotal facts about the art and museum space. After the tour students will have time to explore on their own and look through the amazing library/gift shop, home to a number of limited publications on art.

This event is open to student of Basic Sculpture and Intermediate/Advanced Sculpture ONLY.

Jayoung Yoon is a New York-based artist born in Korea. She is known for interdisciplinary artworks using human hair as a medium. Her solo shows include exhibits at Theo Ganz Studio, NY, 2016, Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, DE, 2011, and the Museum of New Art, MI, 2009.

Jayoung Yoon will give an artist talk 1:00-2:00 in the Adler Theater.

Demosthenes Agrafiotis, b 1946, a leading voice of International Avant-garde art, is active in the fields of painting, poetry, photography, video, and inter-media. He has a special interest in the relationship between art and techno-science. He lives in Athens, Greece.

Demosthenes Agrafiotis will give an Artist Talk from 1:00-2:00pm in ASB 135.
