Yolanda del Amo’s Advanced Photography course will be visiting MOMA and the Morgan Library. Emmet Gowin whose work is shown at the Morgan Library is one of the most important living American photographers. Artist couple Horacio Coppola and Grete Stern whose work is shown at the MOMA are key figures in the history of Argentine photography due to their very innovative work. In both exhibitions, students will have the unique opportunity to see original works that they will learn about in class. They will not only appreciate the technical excellence of these artists but also learn in depth about their works through these comprehensive retrospectives. Students will also attend the talk “Terrible Beauty” at the Morgan Library where Gowin will discuss with other artists the relationship between beauty and catastrophe in photography.

This field trip is open to ARTS 406
