Tammy Smith

“As a returning adult student, I have thrived in the supportive academic community here at Ramapo. I have formed meaningful relationships with my classmates and professors and have flourished in all my scholastic and extracurricular endeavors. I am thankful for the wonderfully enriching experiences Ramapo has afforded me.” – Tammy Smith ’16 graduated with a bachelor degree in Social Work and will be attending New York University for a Master’s in Social Work in the fall (2016-2017). Tammy is currently working as a case manager in an outpatient mental health clinic. She received a graduate school fellowship from the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Club of GFWC and serves as Chairperson of Fair Lawn’s Stigma-Free Task Force which promotes community awareness about the societal impact of mental illness. Among Tammy’s many accomplishments during her time at Ramapo include receiving numerous Ramapo College Foundation Scholarships and the 2015 Fair Lawn Sunrise Rotary Club’s Adult Continuing Education Scholarship. She received the 2015 New Jersey NASW (National Association of Social Work) Harriet Bloomfield Memorial Scholarship and was the national BSW scholarship winner of the 2015 CSWE (Council on Social Work Education) Student Travel Scholarship. Tammy attended the CSWE conference in October of 2015 in Denver, Colorado. One of Tammy’s undergraduate social work papers was selected for publication in the peer reviewed Journal of Undergraduate Research. She also was chosen to be a keynote speaker at Meadowview Psychiatric Hospital’s wellness and recovery conference in Secaucus, N.J.
