“While deciding which college to attend, I was immediately attracted to Ramapo College for its modernized approach to the music industry and was not disappointed. I did not know what I wanted to do except that it needed to be in the music industry. The professors allowed me to find my niche in this vast industry, and they are what makes Ramapo so special.

Professor Cohen’s practical approach to music theory allowed me to understand how music works in popular music, and his love of Pink Floyd was an awesome bonus!

At the height of the pandemic, my internship was canceled and I was fortunate to pursue an independent study with Professor Reali, who introduced me to a contemporary approach to the music business and marketing.

Through my capstone course with Professor Neill, I learned how to sustain a career in the ever-changing music industry. I created a music blog, The Music Insight Column (The MIC), a platform dedicated to highlighting emerging artists through song and album reviews, interviews, and playlist curation. Through his guidance and expertise, The MIC blossomed. The MIC celebrated its second anniversary and launched two new additions to the site this year. New artist services include bio writing and EPK building to help artists build their brand and a YouTube series to celebrate those artists. The MIC continues to grow every day, and it would not have been possible without the knowledge and connections I gained at Ramapo.” – Stefani Janelli ’20 graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s in Music with concentrations in Music Industry and Music Studies.
