“When I reflect on my time spent at Ramapo College, I think about how wonderful my experiences were in the years I spent there. Psychology is a field that can be applied anywhere and the variety of courses for my major really helped to prepare me for the ‘real world.’ During my senior year, I was able to build and present a research project based on people’s behaviors while utilizing social media titled “Twitter, Aggression & Sports Obsession.” This really opened the doors for me to realize just how important social media is to our world nowadays. My current role of an investigative analyst in Crum & Forster Insurance’s Special Investigations Unit really helped me to further explore and develop the passion I have today for social media and the related world of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT). My job consists of using social media and other online public resources to find fraudsters and my background in psychology helps me to go about it in a strategic way. Ramapo also gave me the opportunity to present my aforementioned research project at a few events which helped build my public speaking skills. As a result, you can now see me on a variety of upcoming seminar & conference agendas schedule to present on social media & OSINT. Ramapo really helped me to build a foundation for my current success and I am forever grateful to have spent my college years learning from the amazing staff, students, and experiences there.” – Melissa (Jones) Sweeney ‘ 14 graduated with a bachelor’s in Psychology and minor in Sociology.
