Ramapo Success Story

“I am a Constituent Advocate working in the office of United States Senator Robert Menendez where I act on behalf of approximately nine million New Jerseyans as a liaison with federal, state and local agencies. My responsibilities include answering casework correspondence from New Jersey citizens, communicating with various levels of government officials regarding constituents’ issues, and assisting in their resolution. In addition, I am responsible for resolving issues with Veteran Affairs, Internal Revenue Service, Postal inquiries, Social Security, Department of Homeland Security, Banking/Housing, Consumer Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Department of Labor, Motor Vehicle Commission, Federal Trade Commission, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Social Services in numerous counties. I also oversee the Military Academy appointments. This is where the Senator nominates the best qualified New Jersey students who are eligible to eventually become officers in the United States military.

I am proud to say that Ramapo has prepared me for my career in government. Critical thinking and using real-life examples are two of the main things Ramapo offered me as an undergraduate. The faculty was interested in getting students out of the classroom to experience what was happening in our society. I also found the small class sizes at Ramapo to be very helpful with individualized attention. I would also like to thank Professor Kenneavy who always goes the extra mile to help every student she encounters.” – Jeremy Julis ’13 graduated with a degree in Sociology.
