Monica Coniglio

“The key to my success has been mentorship. By forming close relationships with my professors, I have been able to take my education to places beyond the classroom. Even with just a year’s experience at Ramapo, it’s hard not to notice how phenomenal the Communications professors are, and I look forward to learning more from them in the future.

In September of 2014, I transferred to Ramapo College of New Jersey from McGill University in Montreal. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into at first but when I met Dr. Oh he presented me with several opportunities in the Communications field. Since then, I have presented original, independent research at the Eastern Communication Association (ECA) conference in Philadelphia, and at the National Communication Association (NCA) conference in Washington D.C. My research explores the phenomenon of helicopter parenting in the 21st century. At Ramapo, I’ve come to realize the potential my academic research has to broaden people’s knowledge on an important subject that has been greatly overlooked in academic research.”
