Ramapo Success Story

“I have been playing the clarinet and have been involved with music since fourth grade and continued throughout high school. Although I chose not to pursue a music degree in college, I wanted to stay involved with music and Ramapo Music Club and Concert Band allowed me to do that. I enjoy studying history here at Ramapo, but I also am happy to be able to express myself through music. With the support of band director Chris Wilhjelm, I was nominated to perform in the New Jersey Intercollegiate Band with other esteemed college musicians and music majors from around the state.

In the summer of 2016, I studied at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan with CIEE. I got to explore the many well-known areas, as well as favorite local spots. During the four-week program I lived in a hotel with my other classmates, which allowed us to explore Tokyo together. We also challenged our language skills by interacting with the local restaurant and business owners and patrons. Studying abroad was one of the best experiences that I have had in my life and it really pushed me to gain more independence and confidence in myself.” – Meghan Mudrick ’18 graduated with a degree in History and an East Asian Studies minor. As a member of the Ramapo College Concert Band, she was selected to perform in February at the New Jersey Music Educators Association Convention and in a concert at Rutgers University.
