David Machon

“Ramapo College has provided me with incredible opportunities to expand my horizons. I have been pushed to achieve goals that I didn’t even know were possible. My paper ‘Diversity and Representation in CBS Reality TV Shows’ was shared with thousands of people of the twitter account @SurvDiversity, which advocates for proper diversity on the show ‘Survivor’ for all races, sexual and gender identities.

I will forever be thankful to the professors who assisted me throughout my endeavors. Some of my absolute favorite classes I have taken at Ramapo include: Research Writing Methods with Doctor Satarupa Dasgupta; The New TV Criticism with Professor David Bushman; Global Media, Local Change with Doctor Ruma Sen, and Graphic Design with Professor James Blasi. A huge thank you to Doctor Satarupa Dasgupta for always believing in me and my work, and always pushing my work, and myself, to be the absolute greatest it can be.” – David Machon ’22 graduated with a Bachelor’s in Communication Arts with a concentration in Global Communications and Media Studies and a Minor in Graphic Communication. David was a Women’s Center volunteer and a member of RCTV.

David was accepted to and presented at the 24th/25th New Jersey Communication Association Conference, had two papers accepted and one presented for receiving the 2nd place prize for Best Paper at the 2021 RCNJ Media Collision Conference, is a recipient of the 2021 Ramapo College Book Prize for Academic Excellence in Communication Arts and was accepted into the 2021 COPLAC Conference. He’s had a internship with Benchmark Federal Credit Union since June 2020.
