Carlie Hoffman

Ramapo Success Story

Carlie Hoffman earned a B.A. in Literature, with a concentration in Creative Writing, from Ramapo College in 2013, and an A.A in liberal arts from Bergen Community College in 2010.

Carlie is a creative writing teaching fellow at Columbia University, where she teaches poetry in Columbia’s Undergraduate Creative Writing Program. She also is on faculty at Manhattan College, where she teaches writing. During the summer, she is a creative writing instructor for Columbia’s Summer High School Writing Program. Carlie lives in Washington Heights, New York, and is working towards completing her thesis, a collection of poems, for her M.F.A. in poetry from Columbia.

Carlie’s awards and honors include a 2014-2015 Philip Guston Writing Fellowship from Columbia University, as well as a Chair’s Fellowship, where she was the assistant to the chair of the Writing Program, and as the Director of INTRO to Creative Writing Classes for Columbia Undergraduates and Affiliates. She also served as poetry editor of Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art. Her poems recently have appeared in Nashville Review, Jai-Alai Magazine, and Canary: A Literary Journal of Environmental Crisis.
