“Since high school, I knew that I wanted to study abroad. I knew how life-changing it could be and that I could never have that experience post-graduation.

Before my study abroad experience, I entered Ramapo College as a Business Undecided major. After spending my freshman year entirely online, I came into sophomore year still having no idea what I wanted to do. That all changed when I took Principles of Managerial Accounting with Professor Yeaton. The class showed me how versatile accounting was, and I declared my major in Accounting halfway through the semester. Coincidentally, Professor Yeaton became my academic advisor. I told her about how I wanted to study abroad but how I was unsure how that would work with my major, and she encouraged me to pursue my lifelong dream.

During the second semester of my third year, I studied abroad at The American College of Greece (Deree) in Athens, Greece. I was still able to take many of my business classes for full credit while avoiding a financial burden because of Ramapo’s exchange program. I was fascinated to learn business concepts in an international context, and it changed my perspective on business practices. Studying abroad also allowed me to travel to other countries such as England and Italy. I had an unforgettable experience and built lifelong relationships during my time abroad.

Going into college, I knew that I would have to come out of my shell and get involved. This led to me becoming the Treasurer of two clubs: the Fashion Club and Women in Business. Through the Fashion Club, I get to share my passion for the fashion industry which I eventually want to have a career in. Being a part of Women in Business gives me a community to learn career-building skills and empower women entering the workforce. I also plan on pursuing an MBA with Ramapo’s 4+1 program, which will not only give me the credits needed for the CPA and CMA exams but will teach me how to apply my accounting skills in a managerial setting.

With the many courses The American College of Greece offers, I am still on track to graduate a semester early! Looking back on my experiences during my last semester as an undergraduate student, I realized that I wouldn’t change a thing about my experience at Ramapo College.” – Alexandria Kim ’24 is an Accounting major who is a Presidential Scholarship Recipient, and a Member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society.
