Frank Nitti III

“Transferring as a junior, Ramapo College provided an intellectually stimulating environment where I was challenged by my professors and peers. Through Model UN, Political Forum, and curriculum, I gained a deeper perspective of cultures and political institutions different from my own that serve me well in my career. From working at a large, publicly-traded company to local municipal government, and now at one of the premier higher education institutions in the world, one common thread prevails: diversity. My worldly, compassionate educators and friends pursuing their education at Ramapo from abroad and those from varied backgrounds within New York and New Jersey opened my mind and heart to the intrinsic value of individual experience. With no formal education in science or engineering, Ramapo was where I was first exposed to energy efficiency and sustainability through the endeavors of 1STEP and an internship with the New Jersey Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability (NJHEPS). These were the foundations for so many of my passions: fighting against energy inequality and advocating for climate resilience for at risk populations and pioneering change in the way we design and construct our built environment through promoting the use of chemical Red List Free building materials and reducing embedded carbon to have holistic beneficial change to human health and environmental outcomes throughout the supply chain.” – Frank Nitti III ’11 graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in East Asian Studies.

While at Ramapo, Frank received the D. Bennett Mazur Scholarship, was named in Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities, and was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha and of Sigma Iota Rho. He is currently the Project Manager of Green Building Services at Harvard University.
