“I love how the field of data science uses programming to conduct statistical analyses and data visualizations, enabling data scientists to explore massive datasets. Fortunately, I was blessed with the opportunity to be a member of the inaugural class for Ramapo College’s Master’s in Data Science program. The program will help me develop the skills required to work for Major League Baseball, allowing me to be one of the few females to break into such a male-dominated industry. The MSDS faculty are highly skilled and prioritize student success. They acknowledge and embrace the diversity of their students and aim to instruct in a clear and accessible manner. I am grateful that I can continue my pursuit of higher education at Ramapo College.” – Colette Barca ’20 ’22 graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Mathematics and Secondary Education Teacher Certification. She obtained her Master of Science in Data Science (MSDS) in May 2022. She is pursuing a career as a data analyst at Major League Baseball.

While at Ramapo as an undergraduate, Colette was president and treasurer of Pi Mu Epsilon, the Mathematics Honor Society, and she completed a research project and paper on college football recruiting with Professor Osei Tweneboah.
