“Ramapo College was an amazing experience for my career. The skills I learned there — especially hosting shows for RCTV and WRPR — helped develop me into a stronger communicator. But it came down to taking advantage of the tools and equipment that were available to make the most of my time at Ramapo. I encourage all students to use their years at the school to build tangible experience — something to show you’ve done and not just you’ve learned — that you can use as you enter the early stage of your career.” – Scott Stanchak ’15 with a bachelor’s in Communication Arts. Scott received the 2020 Leaders in Sport 40 Under 40 award. He is currently the Vice President of Emerging Technology with the National Basketball Association. As VP of Emerging Technology at the NBA, Scott leads many of the league’s most innovative digital product initiatives, including in augmented/mixed/virtual reality, fantasy and gaming, and enhancing the digital telecast for the next generation of NBA fans. Scott also oversees product teams responsible for the Basketball Africa League (BAL), NBA 2K League, NBA G League, and WNBA digital products, as well as new audience growth across the NBA mobile app and NBA.com.
Since joining the NBA in 2017, Scott has led new digital product launches across Amazon Alexa (team, league and All-Star voting skills), Apple (NBA AR app), Google (NBA AR app), Google Assistant (NBA All-Star Voting and Daily Trivia), Google Lens and Magic Leap. This is in addition to partnering with Facebook, Google, Instagram, and Snap to launch the first augmented reality experiences within their products. The team was also responsible for reimagining NBA All-Star Voting by launching a new fan-friendly design for 2020.
Since 2016, Scott has also taught e-commerce and digital marketing within the graduate program at New York University. He previously served as Managing Director, Platform Operations at The New York Times.
Scott resides in Wayne, New Jersey with his wife and two young children.
