FYS Class:

Class of: 2026

Major/Minor: Social Work

Resident/Commuter: Resident

Favorite Class: My favorite class is Crossing Boards with professor Castellanos because it was about a class on first generation students/families from all backgrounds and helped me see the many opportunities and achievements that I as a first generation students to achieve not only in school but in life. It made me see this bigger community I have to lean on and to learn from.

Favorite Place on Campus: My favorite place on campus has to be either 4th floor of the Learning Commons because of the study rooms views and Starbucks, and The Grove, when it is a nice day I like to sit on one of the lawn chairs and read or do homework.

Clubs/organizations: II am in SGA currently as the secretary of residential affairs, have been in the organization for 1 year now. In my position I meet monthly with two staff in ResLife to see what is new and what students who live on campus or are thinking about living on campus should know. I am also apart of the Neuroscience club on campus as well, it is fairly new club but I enjoy learning about something other my major. I am also an BSW intern with the Health Service Center and Counseling center, which helps me with the behind the scenes of things like tabling events, social media post and now with the Wellness Fair coming up.

Future Plans: My plans after graduation is to go back to school for my masters in social work and after being working as a social worker either in the medical field for the Hispanic community or help the Hispanic community.

Favorite Inspirational Quote: There is a past version of you that is SO proud of how after you have come. .
