FYS Class:

Class of: 2027

Major/Minor: Major: Biology Minor: Chemistry

Resident/Commuter: Resident

Favorite Class: My favorite class is chemistry because I love science and learning about how acid-base reactions work. Even though this is a hard class, I like studying for it and trying to understand the concepts.

Favorite Place on Campus: My favorite place on campus is the library because most of my friends are commuters, and we meet up here to study. They also have the big white boards that we could use, and the view from the library is nice!

Clubs/organizations: I am part of the honors program and an honors mentor, where I help incoming freshmen transition from high school to college. I am also part of the McNair program which helps students who are interested in going into graduate school. I am the treasurer of the first-generation student organization.

Future Plans: My future plans are to get an internship at a hospital and shadow a doctor to get more experience in the medical field. I also want to take a year to study for the MCATS and apply to medical school to become a physician.

Favorite Inspirational Quote: ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13

Advice for First-Year Students: A piece of advice for first-year students is to keep trying and not limit yourself on what you can accomplish. There where so many opportunities that passed me by because I limited myself. I learned to not compare myself to others and if I fail than I can always get back up and try again. That is what I encourage first year students to do, take a leap of faith and if you fail than don’t get discouraged and continue pushing through.
