FYS Class:

Class of: 2029

Major/Minor: Nursing

Resident/Commuter: Resident

Favorite Class: My favorite class is chemistry lab because of the hands-on learning. Being able to actually perform experiments and see concepts come to life makes it much easier to understand the material. Instead of just reading about reactions, I get to observe them in real time, which makes learning more engaging and memorable. I also enjoy working with others during labs, since it allows us to collaborate, share ideas, and problem-solve together.

Favorite Place on Campus:My favorite place on campus is the library because it makes studying a more enjoyable experience. The environment is calm and focused, which helps me stay productive, but it also feels comfortable rather than stressful. It’s a place where I can really concentrate on my work while still enjoying the process, making studying feel less like a chore and more like something I want to do.

Clubs/Organizations:The two activities I am most involved in are Student Government Association (SGA) and the dance team, as they both reflect my personality and interests.

Being part of SGA has allowed me to take on a leadership role within my school community. I enjoy being involved in decision-making, helping plan events, and representing my peers. It has helped me grow in confidence, communication, and responsibility while giving me the opportunity to make a positive impact.

Dance team is another big part of who I am. It allows me to express myself creatively while also being part of a supportive and hardworking team. Through dance, I’ve built strong connections, developed discipline, and learned the importance of teamwork and dedication. It’s something I’m truly passionate about and has shaped me both as a dancer and as a person.

Future Plans: My future plans are to pursue a career in nursing. I plan to continue my education and become a Registered Nurse, with a strong interest in working in pediatrics. I want to specialize in caring for children because I enjoy helping others and want to make a positive impact on young patients and their families. During my studies, I also hope to gain hands-on experience through clinicals, internships, and other healthcare opportunities that will help me grow my skills and prepare me for my future career.

Favorite Inspirational Quote: My favorite motivational quote is by Maya Angelou: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

Advice for First-Year Students: A piece of advice I would give to first-year students is to stay open to new experiences while also learning how to balance your time early on. College can feel overwhelming at first, but building good habits; like staying organized, asking for help when needed, and not procrastinating; can make a big difference. It’s also important to get involved and put yourself out there, whether that’s through clubs, events, or meeting new people, because those connections can really shape your college experience
