FYS Class:
Class of: 2028
Major/Minor: Biology
Resident/Commuter: Commuter
Favorite Class: My favorite class is Biology because it grows my understanding of the environment that surrounds us better. I also find it interesting to learn about the interconnectedness of everything on Earth, and how detailed some living and nonliving things are. I was also never the best at Math.
Favorite Place on Campus: My favorite place on campus is definitely the common grounds. As a Biology major I spend most of the day there studying. It’s comfy from sitting on beanbags chairs, desks, or mini sofas, and the view out the windows is amazing. Also, the staff at the Starbucks on the third floor is always so nice, and makes my daily matcha perfectly (shout out Sue Dykstra ).
Clubs/organizations: LIS (leaders in service), this club allowed me a lot of volunteering opportunities, and brought me to historical places to learn which I found really fun and engaging. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a program that put me in a mentor role for a young kid in Patterson that I would meet with every other week. I was another support system for him, and it genuinely made me realize the impact that I could have on someone so young, just being there and showing up
Future Plans: My future plans include: Shadowing an optometrist, becoming a waiter, joining more clubs on campus next semester, saving up to finish fully paying for my car!
Favorite Inspirational Quote: The cost of procrastination is the life you could have lived.
Advice for First-Year Students: College is hard, but you only fail at something if you stop trying, so never stop trying and keep your best foot forward!
