12371203403_37f8e3dbec_o-winterarch-kiplingerMAHWAH, N.J.—Ramapo College of New Jersey has been named to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance’s list of the Top 300 Best College Values of 2017. Introduced in 1998, the rankings highlight public schools, private universities and private liberal arts colleges that combine outstanding academics with affordable cost. In addition, Kiplinger has ranked the top 100 best values in each category.

Ramapo College earned a spot on the magazine’s list of 100 best values in public colleges. This is the eleventh year Ramapo has been included in the 100 best values in public colleges listing.

“Ramapo College is proud to be one of only three institutions in New Jersey to again be awarded this distinction from Kiplinger’s. With an average class size of 23 and an 18:1 student to faculty ratio, we promise our students a high quality and affordable academic experience and we proudly keep that promise. As a result, our graduates go on to engage in competitive graduate and professional programs and rewarding careers,” said Peter P. Mercer, President of Ramapo College. President Mercer served on the College Affordability Study Commission, which examined ways to enhance college affordability for all New Jersey students. In a commitment to affordability, Ramapo College has had the lowest annual tuition increase among New Jersey public colleges/universities over the last five years.

Kiplinger collects data of nearly 1,200 schools and assesses value by measurable standards of academic quality and affordability. Quality measures include the admission rate, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and four-year graduation rate. Cost criteria include sticker price, financial aid and average debt at graduation. Many schools have appeared on the list multiple times, a testament to the consistent value these colleges provide.

At Kiplinger.com, visitors have access to the “Find the Best College for You” tool and other tools that let readers sort by admission rate, average debt at graduation and other criteria for all schools, plus in-state and out-of-state cost for public universities. Also online: slide shows of the top ten schools in different categories, archives of past years’ rankings and an FAQ on the ranking methodology.

The complete rankings are now available online at Kiplinger.com/links/college and appear in print in the February 2017 issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.
