MAHWAH, N.J. — Joshua Cohen, New Jersey Anti-Defamation League Regional Director, will discuss the current state of international and local anti-Semitism on Monday, March 20 at 1 p.m. The program will be held in the Robert A. Scott Student Center, Alumni Lounges (SC157-58) under the auspices of the Gross Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and the Hillel of Ramapo College.

This presentation will assess where anti-Jewish beliefs are most problematic and the ways in which anti-Israel sentiment is increasingly a popular guise for anti-Semitism. Ways to fight anti-Semitism in your community will also be shared.

In his role as Regional Director, Cohen is responsible for the overall planning, direction and administration of all regional office activities, including program delivery, fundraising, leadership development, communications, government relations, fact-finding/research and office management in order to advance ADL’s mission. Cohen also represents ADL in the community, to the media, and to public officials.

Cohen joined ADL in 2009, serving as the Associate Director for the League’s Philadelphia Regional Office, which covers Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware. In this capacity, he oversaw regional civil rights initiatives, including responses to incidents of anti-Semitism and discrimination, developed and implemented community outreach initiatives and joint ventures with elected leaders and diverse interfaith and cross cultural organizations, and worked closely with local law enforcement partners. Cohen also served as a liaison to the college campus community, facilitated Jewish institutional security issues, and oversaw the region’s young leadership division.

Prior to joining ADL, Cohen was a government relations executive at the UJA-Federation of New York where he managed a multi-issue health and human service lobbying portfolio.

He received his bachelor of arts in political science from the State University of New York at Albany and a master of science in nonprofit management from New School University’s Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy.
