MAHWAH, NJ: Marie “Mickey” Curran has been named Director of Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation for Ramapo College and will begin in her role on June 8.

Curran joins Ramapo College as director, succeeding Jan Koslowsky, who retired after 23 years of athletics leadership at Ramapo. Curran will oversee the Roadrunners’ 18 NCAA DIII varsity teams, numerous club and intramural teams, and campus recreation.

Prior to joining Ramapo Athletics, Curran served as director of athletics at SUNY Cobleskill for more than nine years. During her tenure, she oversaw athletics, recreation, intramurals, and the Sport and Exercise academic program. Athletic participation grew by 32% through strategic enrollment-focused program expansion, including the addition of four varsity and club sports.

Curran also brings significant experience in facilities management and capital projects. At SUNY Cobleskill, she managed a $1.8 million indoor facility renovation in partnership with the SUNY Construction Fund. Previously, as assistant director of athletics at Buffalo State University, she coordinated a $3.2 million outdoor track and field renovation and a $700,000 softball field upgrade.

At the national level, Curran currently serves on the NCAA Softball Rules Committee while acting as the Division III legislative liaison for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). She previously served on the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Committee as well as chaired the athletic directors committee for the North Atlantic Conference (NAC).

Before entering athletic administration, Curran spent 13 years coaching at the NCAA Division I level, including positions at Creighton University, Northern Illinois University, and the University at Buffalo.

Curran brings extensive NCAA Division III leadership experience to Ramapo. Under her leadership, SUNY Cobleskill celebrated multiple conference championships, expanded athletic opportunities for student-athletes, and strengthened its position within the North Atlantic Conference. Her experience in conference governance, strategic planning, enrollment-focused program development, and student-athlete success will be valuable assets as she leads Ramapo’s athletics program within the highly competitive New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).

Curran’s connection to Division III athletics began as a student-athlete at The College of New Jersey, where she was a member of four national championship tournament teams and helped lead the Lions to two NCAA Division III national titles in softball. Her experience as a Division III student-athlete informs her commitment to competitive excellence, academic achievement, and the holistic development of students.

“Mickey’s track record of growing athletic programs, supporting student-athlete success, and building on strong campus-wide partnerships make her an outstanding fit for Ramapo College,” said Melissa Van Der Wall, dean for students and vice president for student well-being. “Her experience as a student-athlete, coach, administrator, and national leader in Division III athletics will help us continue strengthening the Roadrunner experience while advancing the mission of the College.”

When asked what excites Curran most about joining the Roadrunner community, she shared, “From my first conversations with campus leaders, it was clear that Ramapo sees athletics as an important part of the educational experience. I look forward to working with our coaches, staff, and student-athletes to build on the program’s tradition of success and continue creating opportunities for students to excel in competition, in the classroom, and as members of the campus community.”

Curran earned a Master of Science in Sports Administration from Canisius College, a Master of Science in Information Science from the University of Buffalo, and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from The College of New Jersey.
