(Mahwah) The Newark Boys Chorus School will celebrate the holiday season with a performance at Ramapo College of New Jersey, Friday, December 13 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater.

The Newark Boys Chorus School was founded in 1969. Known as Newark’s Musical Ambassadors,” the Chorus has been heard throughout the world with a diversified repertoire that includes African folksongs, traditional classical music, spiritual folk music, and contemporary show tunes, pop and jazz. The Newark Boys Chorus School has performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, Lincoln Center, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

The Newark Boy’s Chorus School was founded on the model of the great cathedral schools of England, but its purpose has been to provide an artistic and academic beacon to the whole community. The school – the academic and musical home to 75 boys from fourth through eighth grade- is located in downtown Newark. The chorus, under the direction of music director Donald Morris, tours extensively both nationally and internationally, including South Africa and Jamaica.

Admission is $21 adults, $18 seniors and $10 students. For additional information, call (201) 684-7844. The Sharp Theater is located in the Berrie Center at Ramapo College.
