A Night With the Stars, an Exploration in Astronomy, at the William D. McDowell Observatory

MAHWAH – “A Night With the Stars,” an exploration of the evening sky, will be sponsored by The Friends of Ramapo Saturday, October 4 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission Center for Environmental and Scientific Education and William D. McDowell Observatory.  Tickets for the evening cost $55 per person and are available by calling 201.684.7179 or e-mailing kaustin@ramapo.edu.  Proceeds from the event will benefit a Friends of Ramapo Scholarship at Ramapo College of New Jersey.

The evening will begin with a dinner buffet at sunset, followed at 7:30 p.m. by an Explore Astronomy presentation led by Dr. Rich Russo.  At 8:30 p.m. Dr. John Sloan and guests will gaze at the stars.

The Center and Observatory are located at Three Dekorte Park Plaza in Lyndhurst. Friends of Ramapo is an organization founded to expand communications and foster greater understanding between the campus of Ramapo College and neighboring communities.  Friends of Ramapo award scholarships to students with outstanding academic achievements and sponsor cultural events.
