(Mahwah) – The Aquila Theatre Company will present Joseph Heller’s stage adaptation of his world-renowned novel Catch 22 Friday, October 5 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey.

Set during the latter stages of World War II, the play explores the relevance of following orders blindly and the impact of war on society.  This premiere performance will mark the first time that Heller’s words will be heard onstage in New Jersey.

Originally founded in 1991 by Peter Meineck, the Aquila Theatre Company is comprised of British and American artists dedicated to stage performance and classical drama.  The company, based in New York, produces full seasons of plays each year.

The Aquila Theatre Company has performed nationwide.  The company also embarked on a European tour this past summer performing Romeo and Juliet in Germany, Hungary, Greece, Poland and Scotland.  In addition to their Catch-22 performances, the Aquila Theatre Company also regularly performs Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales and Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.

The company also offers professional training courses for aspiring actors and an extensive program of workshops, weekly classes and private coaching.

Tickets for Catch 22 are $26, $23 and $20 for adults and $15 for children under 17.  Senior citizens are eligible for a five percent discount.  The Sharp Theater is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus.  For more information call 201.684.7844.
