(Mahwah) – Singer-songwriter Susan Werner, regarded as one of the finest performers on the acoustic circuit, will perform on Friday, October 7 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey.

Werner’s music has its roots in jazz, classical, country and popular song.  National tours with Joan Armatrading and a PBS special with Peter, Paul & Mary have helped her build an enthusiastic following in the United States and Canada.  Her newest release, I Can’t Be New, features 12 original songs in the style of the Great American Songbook.

Werner received a master’s degree in classical voice; writing and singing in the songbook style is considered a bold departure.  Of I Can’t Be New, the artist says, These are all new songs done in an old way.”

Tickets for Susan Werner are $24 for adults, $21 for senior citizens and $15 for youth.  The Sharp Theater is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus.  For more information call 201.684.7844.

This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
