Dr. Donna Crawley Named Acting VP For Academic Affairs at Ramapo College

(Mahwah) — President Robert A. Scott of Ramapo College of New Jersey today announced the appointment of Dr. Donna Crawley as acting vice president for academic affairs. Crawley, a professor of psychology and former dean of Ramapo’s School of Social Science and Human Services (SSHS), will assume the new position effective August 21.

“Dr. Crawley is an outstanding teacher, scholar, and administrator, and we are fortunate she has agreed to serve as chief academic officer. Her Middle States experience makes her an ideal choice as Ramapo continues to strive for even greater levels of excellence.”

Crawley, who previously served on the faculty of the College of New Rochelle, began her tenure at Ramapo in 1984 as an assistant professor of psychology. While at Ramapo she has taught psychology courses at all levels and co-chaired the Middle States Executive Committee, overseeing the self-study and site evaluation for reaccreditation. In addition she previously served as the director of Academic Programs and Assessment, as well as dean of SSHS.

She is the author of numerous publications and papers on issues of gender, race and ethnicity, and sexual harassment and bias, and is the co-author of A Sexual Harassment Workshop Manual, used as the basis for Ramapo workshops on sexual harassment. She served as co-editor of the national journal Transformations from 1993 to 1997, and continues to serve as an advisory board member.

Crawley has been a Reaccreditation Evaluation Team Member for the Middle States Association. She is a recipient of the Jack Richardson Memorial Award, the Fred and Florence Thomases Award, a Faculty-Student Research Award, and a National Science Foundation Fellowship, among others. She earned a Ph.D. in personality and social psychology from Cornell University.
