LYNDHURST, N.J. – The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) will perform a “Salute to America!” – a selection of patriotic tunes, American popular music and opera favorites – on Saturday, June 27 in DeKorte  Park at 7:30 p.m. This special concert in the heart of the Meadowlands is the NJSO’s only outdoor show in Bergen County this summer. The concert is presented by the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC)
and the Ramapo College Foundation and is part of the NJMC’s 40th Anniversary celebration.

“The “Salute to America!” concert is a unique opportunity for people to enjoy an acclaimed orchestra at a low cost in an amazing, outdoor setting,” said Joseph Doria, Chairman of the NJMC and Commissioner of the state Department of Community Affairs. “We are proud to present the NJSO and excited for people to enjoy this
festive concert, amid the natural wonders of the Meadowlands.”

Gates open at 5 p.m., and concertgoers are invited to bring picnics and come early to enjoy the park, its walking trails and the dozens of species of shorebirds and waterfowl that make their home there. NJMC staff will be on hand to lead nature walks, or point out the most interesting flora and fauna.

Plenty of free parking will be available nearby, and free shuttle buses will bring you to the concert site. DeKorte Park is handicapped accessible and handicapped parking is also available in the park, near the concert site.

“This concert continues the NJMC’s tradition of providing quality, low-cost programming to residents,” said Robert Ceberio, Executive Director of the NJMC. “Whether it is for a concert, a canoe trip or a walk in the park, the Meadowlands is a great place for the entire family.”
