Commerce Bank Summer Concert Series Dates Are Announced

(Mahwah) – The Spirit of America, Carnaby Street, the Tim Gillis Band and The Happenings will headline the Commerce Bank Summer Concert Series on the Ramapo College of New Jersey campus. The four concerts, all on Thursdays, will take place at the Band Shell, beginning at 8 p.m. The first concert, on Thursday, July 8, will end with a fireworks display. In case of rain, the fireworks will take place on July 15. Admission is free; parking is $5 per car.

In addition to Commerce Bank, the series is sponsored by McBride Agency, Realtor; Orange and Rockland Utilities; Prestige Family of Dealerships; The Friends of Ramapo, and the Ramapo College Alumni Association. Bring your lawn chair, a carload of family and friends, and picnic under the stars. In case of rain, performances will be held in the Berrie Center on the College campus. Thursday, July 8
Fireworks and Spirit of America
A perennial Summer Concert Series favorite, the Spirit of American will perform a rousing patriotic salute to the U.S.A, including America the Beautiful,” God Bless America” and the country favorite, God Bless the U.S.A.”

Thursday, July 15
Carnaby Street
This ’60’s pop group takes listeners through an historic look at the music during this popular era. Period dress, tight vocal harmonies, vintage guitar and drums will convince you the Beatles are back!

Thursday, July 22
Tim Gillis Band
One of New Jersey’s foremost country western bands, this entertaining act attracts crowds who love to dance and enjoy the best of country music.

Thursday, July 29
The Happenings
This group exploded onto the national charts with their first release, See You in September.” Bob Miranda, the featured vocalist, helped rocket the group to international stardom.

The Summer Concert Series has been held at Ramapo College since 1987. The series has grown steadily over the past 15 years and now attracts approximately 1,000 people per evening. The fireworks concert is the most popular, attracting more than 2,500 patrons from the surrounding area.
