Commerce Bank Summer Concert Series Dates Are Announced

(Mahwah) – The Silver Starlight Orchestra, The Demensions, Rag Doll in a tribute to the Four Seasons and 52nd Street, a Billy Joel tribute band, will headline the Commerce Bank Summer Concert Series on the Ramapo College of New Jersey campus.  The four concerts, all on Thursdays in July, will take place at the Bandshell, beginning at 8 p.m.  The first concert, on Thursday, July 6, will end with a fireworks display.  In case of rain, the fireworks will take place on July 13.  Admission is free; parking is $5 per car.

In addition to Commerce Bank, the series is sponsored by McBride Enterprises (Urban Farms), Friends of Ramapo and the Ramapo College Alumni Association.

Bring your lawn chair, a carload of family and friends, and picnic under the stars. In case of rain, concerts will be held in the Berrie Center.  For more information, call 201.684.7611.

Thursday, July 6
Fireworks and Silver Starlight Orchestra – Salute to America
Styled after Glenn Miller, this authentic orchestra recaptures the feeling of love, laughter and patriotism found in America over six decades ago.  Comined with Army uniforms and swing music from the thirties and forties, this Salute to America” show will keep you dancing all night long. 

Thursday, July 13
The Demensions
This oldies group is recognized and respected as one of the finest performing acts whose roots originate in the sensational sixties.  Their best sellers include Over the Rainbow” in 1960 and their 1962 hit My Foolish Heart.”  Their upbeat tunes make this versatile group pleasing to parents and children alike. 

Thursday, July 20
Rag Doll – Tribute to the Four Seasons 
Rag Doll is considered one of the best tribute groups on the circuit when it comes to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.  With harmonies and the falsetto of lead singer Eddy Rezzonico, Rag Doll is a must hear.”

Thursday, July 27
52nd Street – Tribute to Billy Joel  
Dan Vechesky takes the stage as the Piano Man” in his Billy Joel tribute band, 52nd Street.  This skilled lead vocalist and piano player will perform songs such as Uptown Girl,” The River of Dreams” and My Life.”

The Summer Concert Series has been held at Ramapo College since 1987.  The series has grown steadily and now attracts approximately 1,000 people per evening.  The fireworks concert is the most popular, attracting more than 2,500 patrons from the surrounding area.
