Ramapo College Seniors Organize Fundraiser for Mahwah-Based Pony Power Therapies

MAHWAH – Jump in the Saddle, a fundraising event to benefit Pony Power Therapies in Mahwah, will be held Wednesday, April 29 at the Bill Bradley Bill Bradley Sports and Recreation Center on the campus of Ramapo College.

Ramapo College seniors Lauren Chernalis of Wyckoff and Nicole Cervino of Wayne will organize the event as part of the requirements to complete a Senior Project for the Media and Cinema Studies concentration of their major.  All proceeds will be used for therapy horse care and rider scholarships at Pony Power Therapies.  Chernalis is a volunteer at Pony Power.

During the event, Pony Power Therapies, along with the Ramapo College students, will present the 2009 Horse and Rider Award to Thomas Buchak of Saddle Brook and CC, one of the organization’s clients and his favorite horse.  In addition, Ramapo College’s Cahill Center for Experiential Learning and Career Services will also be recognized for their continued support of Pony Power Therapies through student placements at the organization.

Jump in the Saddle will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Bradley Center.  Tickets cost $50 per person.  The evening includes wine and soft drinks, hor d’oeuvres and dinner donated by the Market Basket in Franklin Lakes.  There also will be a silent auction.  Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis and space is limited.  To purchase tickets, call 551.579.0288 or 201.934.1001, or visit www.ponypowernj.org.

Pony Power Therapies, Inc. was founded in 2000 to provide equine assisted activities to children and adults with autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, emotional disabilities, developmental delays, victims of trauma and abuse and multiple handicaps.  Pony Power serves 200 riders with the help of more than 200 volunteers.
