Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner Raises more than $207,000 for Ramapo College Scholarships, Programs and Research

(Mahwah) – The Ramapo College Foundation’s 2008 Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner, held Saturday, March 8 at the Rockleigh Country Club, raised more than $207,000 for scholarships, faculty and student research opportunities and capital projects, while honoring four distinguished citizens for their leadership and commitment to higher education:  James E. Jaworski, a Ramsey resident and 1981 Ramapo College graduate, who is a partner in the law firm of Wells, Jaworski, Liebman, LLP in Paramus; Drew Nieporent, a resident of Ridgewood whose son, Andrew, attends Ramapo College, and who owns the Myriad Restaurant Group headquartered New York City; Patricia B. Shrader, a resident of Ringwood and the senior vice president of Corporate Regulatory and External Affairs for BD in Franklin Lakes; and Edward P. Wallace, Jr., vice president for Community Affairs and Sony USA Foundation, whose daughter, Kelly, is a 2006 graduate of Ramapo College.

The annual benefit dinner raises funds for student scholarships, college programs and faculty research.  “We appreciate the contributions and support from this year’s honorees, donors and participants and applaud our honorees on their vast accomplishments.  The funds raised through this dinner will help to provide the resources that make the difference in Ramapo’s quest for educational excellence,” said Robert Tillsley, chairman of the Ramapo College Foundation Board of Governors.
