(Mahwah) – The American Repertory Ballet – choreographed by world-renowned choreographer and artistic director Graham Lustig – brings its newest performance of Urban Tangos, a suite of sophisticated dances that showcases the troupe’s dancers as they interpret the sultry music of 20th Century tango composers to Ramapo College’s Sharp Theater Sunday, April 6 at 3 p.m. The performance marks the troupe’s final repertory performance of the season in New Jersey.

In addition to Urban Tangos, the ARB will perform selections from Dancing Through The Ceiling 2003, Lustig’s groundbreaking dance program created to address the under-representation of women as ballet choreographers.

Urban Tangos features the music of 20th Century tango composers such as Astor Piazolla and Eddie van Dijken, along with dramatic costuming by Nadine Baylis, to tell the story of the tango, Argentina’s national dance. The presentation of Dancing through the Ceiling 2003 presents the third year of production for this unique program that promotes the work of women choreographers. This season features encore presentations of three acclaimed works: Canadian-born choreographer Dominique Damais’ – a part between parts; Susan Hadley’s Corps, and Amy Siewert’s Monopoly.

The American Repertory Ballet is New Jersey’s premier contemporary dance company. ARB’s Princeton Ballet School, one of the largest non-profit dance institutions affiliated with a dance company, is ARB’s official school. The ARB was founded in 1954, and currently has studios in Princeton, Cranbury and New Brunswick serving more than 1,500 students.

Tickets are $23 for general admission, $20 for seniors, and $12 for students with valid ID. The Sharp Theater is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for the Performing and Visual Arts. For tickets or information, call (201) 684-7844 or visit the Website at www.ramapo.edu/berriecenter.
