(Mahwah) – A Mom’s Life, a one-woman play that reveals what happens when an award-winning actress becomes a stay-at-home mother, starring the play’s author, actress Kathryn Grody, will be performed at Ramapo College of New Jersey Friday, March 1 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater.

First produced at Joseph Papp’s Public Theater, the autobiographical A Mom’s Life examines the truth about parents, especially mothers, who put their own careers aside to raise children. Anita Gates, writing for the New York Times, said, “Ms. Grody captures the never-ending, energy-sapping, sleep-depriving, brain-snatching, no-coffee-breaks-ever experience that modern motherhood seems to be.”

Kathryn Grody, who is married to actor Mandy Patinkin, became a mother for the first time at the age of 35. “The inspiration for this piece came from people asking me if I was ‘working now or just having fun staying home with the kids,'” says Grody. “I felt like I was living on a planet that only other moms lived on. I also realized that nobody was talking about this life with kids in the culture at large.” Grody has appeared on and off-Broadway in Scapino, Fishing, Museum and Lulu Bett. She received Obie Awards for her performances in Top Girls and The Marriage of Bette and Boo. Film appearances include Limbo and Men With Guns by John Sayles, My Body Guard directed by Tony Bill, Lemon Sisters with Diane Keaton and Carol Kane, Another Woman by Woody Allen and Reds by Warren Beatty.

Tickets for the Ramapo College performance are $20, $17 for seniors and $10 for students with a valid I.D. For more information, call (201) 684-7844.
