2003 Distinguished Citizens Are Introduced At Reception At Ramapo College

Vice Chairs and Corporate Sponsors Are Recognized

(Mahwah) – A reception to recognize vice chairs and corporate sponsors and introduce the honorees for Ramapo College of New Jersey’s upcoming Distinguished Citizens Dinner recently was held at the historic Havemeyer House on the Ramapo College campus.

The reception provided an opportunity for the vice chairs and sponsors to meet the 2003 Distinguished Citizens: Vernon W. Hill, II, chairman and president, Commerce Bancorp, Inc. (represented at the reception by James R. Napolitano); Lawrence R. Inserra, Jr., president of Inserra Supermarkets, Inc. (represented by Patricia Sullivan); Joseph M. Leone, executive vice president and chief financial officer, CIT; and Carolyn M. Merkel ’78, executive director of ingredient technology, McNeil Nutritionals, a member of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies. Guests were welcomed by President Rodney D. Smith, the Ramapo College Foundation Board of Governors and Thomas McGurn, co-chairman, Distinguished Citizens Dinner Committee.

The 21st annual Distinguished Citizens Dinner will be held Saturday, March 8 at the Rockleigh County Club and will feature entertainment by The Drifters and Soiree, and a silent auction. The evening will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by the dinner program, dancing and entertainment. A silent auction will be open throughout the evening. The annual benefit dinner raises funds for student scholarships, college programs and faculty research.
