(MAHWAH, NJ) – The Open Door Concert Series continues to promote live classical music for Ramapo College students and the surrounding community with a fascinating lineup this semester of concerts showcasing a wide amplitude of ensembles, soloists and composers.

The February 6 concert will feature internationally acclaimed mezzo soprano MaryAnn McCormick, who teaches voice lessons at Ramapo, and pianist Corazon Andres Bisda performing “lieder” by Hugo Wolf and Gustav Mahler, coupled with a rendering of Felix Mendelssohn’s “Songs Without Words op.19b” by pianist and artistic director Itay Goren.

Following a successful collaboration during last season’s concerts playing Brahms’s “Quintet for piano and strings Op. 34,” on March 6 the Madison String Quartet and Itay Goren will bring Robert Schumann’s legendary “Piano Quintet Op. 44” to Ramapo College. MSQ will complete the program with Beethoven’s “Quartet op.18, no. 2.”

The April 3 concert will present music by composer and Ramapo College faculty member Richard Sorce. Faculty and guest musicians will interpret several of Sorce’s compositions while the composer will offer insights and commentary about his works.

All concerts begin at 7 p.m. in  the York Room, located in the Birch Mansion on campus.
