(MAHWAH, NJ) – Ramapo College of New Jersey is listed in the January issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine as among the “100 Best Values in Public Colleges” for 2011. This is the sixth consecutive year Ramapo College has been included in the “100 Best Values in Public Colleges.”
The College is one of three New Jersey public institutions of higher education included in the list, which was released January 4.
“Our continual ranking in Kiplinger’s magazine affirms what we know is unique about Ramapo; our ability to provide a high quality affordable liberal arts education that prepares students for their future,” said Christopher Romano, associate vice president of Enrollment Management. “As budget woes continue to force public entities to prioritize, we have and will continue to maintain our commitment to investing in those areas that allow us to provide a highly individualized academic experience that provides one on one interaction with stellar faculty members while studying in a beautiful setting.”
The #49 ranking is for in-state tuition and fees at Ramapo College; the College received a ranking of #24 for value in out-of-state tuition.
Kiplinger’s studied more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities, using measures including the percentage of freshmen scoring 600 or higher on the verbal and math components of the SAT, student/faculty ratio, admission rates and graduation rates. In addition, schools were ranked based on cost before and after financial aid was factored in, the average cost for a student with need after subtracting grants, the average cost for a student without need after subtracting non-need based grants, the average percentage of need met by aid and the average debt a student accumulates before graduation.
