(MAHWAH, NJ) – Ramapo College will host Ramaposium, a digital music industry symposium and live concert, on Monday, December 12 as a day-long event starting at 3 p.m. in the Berrie Center’s Adler Theater.  The event is sponsored and organized by the College’s chapter of the Music & Entertainment Industry Association (MEISA).  The Ramapo community and the public are invited to learn about and enjoy digital music.  The event will also feature musical talents by Ramapo’s own students.

From 3-5 p.m., a symposium featuring digital music’s top musicians will be held as a panel discussion during which the musicians will speak about their individual digital music companies.  The symposium will be moderated by Jill Gutowitz, Music Industry student and founder of The Jillboard.com, a successful blog.  Audience members are encouraged to ask questions between 5-6 p.m.

Panelists for the symposium include Rian Rochford of Topspin Media, a direct-to-fan marketing and retail software platform; Jeff Bronikowski of Echonest, a music intelligence company that powers smarter music applications; Rich Masio of Rdio, a company that combines streaming music catalogs with social networking features; Teddy Brinkofski of HulkShare, a music platform that provides file services to artists, blogs, music labels, magazines, and other music industry professionals; and Nate Maddrey of Fratmusic.com, a company that creates hip-hop, electronic, and pop playlists for parties and events.

At 7 p.m., a concert showcasing both professional and student talent will take place.  The concert will include hip-hop duo Tron! and DVD, student musician and house dubstep performer DJ Max Rudd, singer/songwriter Lo Kloza, and neo-soul singer Tahir Register.  Pop rock group Ideal Drive, trip-hop group Glowing, and electronic rap trio Dubbudz will also perform.

The symposium and concert are free and open to the public.  Seating is limited, and tickets are required for entry.  For more information about the event, please contact Professor Ben Neill via email at bneill@ramapo.edu or by phone at 201.684.6283.
